I'm still running OS X 10.6 but need to use a newer version of OS X to run Xcode and use Swift. Is it worth installing the latest version of OS X side-by-side or am I safe to just overwrite 10.6 and do a direct upgrade?

Define safe
Obviously you have backup of important files right? So are you talking about how well your mac will run it?
>>55253699
Yeah, I have backups.
I'm wondering both about any side effects of going straight from 10.6 and skipping everything in between and how well a Mid-2010 MBP will run everything.

Where do mactoddlers get they the false impression they or their toddler OS tech support threads are welcome on /g/?

Shouldn't any problems going from 10.6 to EC but i can't help you with how well it will run it though most ppl who has done it on equivalent hardware recommends a SDD and 8bg ram

Go back to your containment ricing threads spergmaster general
I have a 10.6 / 10.11 dual boot setup. you can always overwrite 10.6 later on

Fuck off back to your containment board mactoddler >>>/lgbt/

Sounds good. I've got the SSD and 8GB RAM which I think is the max this thing will take.

I was considering this approach too. I've got about 100GB spare for a partition. Is it possible to download EC straight onto a blank partition or is the only way through an image/updating an existing install?

>mactoddler doesn't even know how to install updates
You can't make this shit up.
>>55252528
It's never worth installing OSX... Be a smart man and install gentoo!

It would be best just to clean install, anon.
