That broken power button, though.
I love my Nexus 5, but the power button recently got stuck and caused that boot cycle loop, which is a major problem after many online searches. I can rescue it by literally banging the phone on the table, but that's only a temporary fix. I'm just not yet motivated enough to open the case and try to either repair or replace the button.

The only good looking smartphones out now are the Nexus 5X/6P, Galaxy Note 5, iPhone SE, and OnePlusX. Everything else looks like dog shit. I think you should buy a 5X if you like smaller, lighter phones. If battery life is the most important thing to you then get a Note 5 or 6P. I currently have a Note 5 and I haven't been disappointed yet. Just be aware that some models come with KNOX. If you want to avoid flashing kernels and stuff for root, get an unlocked international version.

And your argument is? Age of the device doesn't constitute it being bad. Look at any of the most popular ThinkPads for example. They are built solid and still have reasonably good specs (like the Nexus 5).

The device has a big enough following that it will get community supported updates for sure. Google is also still supporting the phone with security updates for another few years, so security is a non issue (for now).

Mine still works perfectly fine, the battery easily lasts 1 day since I only really use it minimally. I can't see any reason to buy a new phone until my N5 actually dies, I seriously doubt I'll want to do something on my phone that requires better hardware.

OnePlus One is still a great phone though. Snapdragon 801 will still feel fast in the next 2-3 years and the battery life is tolerable.

Mine just started acting weird recently. For the past week or so I don't need to fully press it until it "clicks" for the screen to turn on or off. If I tap it just slightly it will actually depress without clicking and the screen state will toggle. It's been bothering the hell out of me because sometimes I'll accidentally turn the screen off again as soon as it turns on when I pick it up. I'm wondering if maybe there's just a bunch of dust collecting in there that I can just brush out or something.

Use custom ROMs, you're set for at least 2 next Android versions. Get a powerbank. Overclock it if you lack performance(you really shouldn't though). Done, you've extend its lifetime for 1.5 more years until 820 devices become cheaper and more mature.

Yes. My Nexus 5 recently got stuck in a boot loop because the power button is stuck. I think the button is fine now, because it will sit on fast boot fine, but it hangs when booting and restarts when I get to the four ball things.
Not sure what to do, I'll probably swap the mobo with my brothers N5 since he broke the screen on his.

My N5 is running xposed+ gravbox, but my battery is lasting less and less every week. Right now I get like 3h screen on time, luckily I don't use my phone for much, only calling and emailing really, so I don't mind it. The shit battery really killed the N5 for me (and the N4 before it too). I constantly felt that I needed to not use it to have it last through the day. And sometimes an app (*cough*Google Play Services*cough*) would just randomly drain my battery when I wasn't even using it.
OTOH, after that I got a Lumia which after a random update consistently decided that its battery only need to last until 1 in the afternoon. Power management is hard.
What's a realistic sot for a modern flag ship? My moto e can only watch a flash mvoie for a few hours.
