>Tried this on /v/ but got no responses
Anyone here use a CRT either as a computer monitor or a TV for vintage consoles?
Just curious what hardware everyone has.
I would try going to /vr/, they usually have a CRT general.
/v/ is full of underage kids
I use a Sony Trinitron for old games
I have a early 2000s Sony hooked up to my old consoles. What do you want to know?

i want to know where to get a crt monitor at this point :(
mine finally died
yeah vr has a general, it's always up. most people post about 15khz stuff for 5th gen and older consoles but there is some computer monitor discussion.
You need that shit for duck hunt, senpai
once you go crt you never go back, check craigslist and thrift stores
I use it everyday as tv
>tfw been using a 16'' eMachines CRT for years
Even if you dropped $200 in my lap and told me to buy a new component for my computer, the monitor would likely be the last thing I replace. It still works, it works well and I cant justify getting rid of it.
I use some 17" Samsung I found on the side of the road and a beat up Wii I bought for $20 in a garage sale to play old games.
If you just want something like an HD CRT tv you can find people literally unable to give them away on craigslist. For an actual computer monitor, you`re more likely to find people trying to buy one than sell one.
>tfw have a 19" CRT monitor in the basement collecting dust.
I really have nowhere to set it up, otherwise I would. I have a 27" panasonic Tau for everything PS2/Dreamcast and older. PS2 on component 480i, and dreamcast with svideo look fucking great, But I`m mostly just leaning towards emulation anymore, at least with the PS2.
Is it possible to use the electron gun in a crt for anything cool?

Hands down the best. Nothing comes close.

I am using a Samsung SyncMaster 997DF for shitposting, but I don't own a console. I haven't owned a console since 2003.
I snagged a 36" early 00's Trinitron off Craigslist for about $10. Have an NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, and a Genesis connected right now. I'm looking for a cheap PS1 or 2 (maybe both if prices are decent) system to finish everything off. Might hunt down a GameCube or OG Xbox but I don't really have any games for them left anymore. If I could find/afford a Saturn or Neo George, I'd be on that in a fucking heartbeat though.

Lots of stuff is comparable actually. Trinitrons are good, but people who act like they're leagues better than every single other model of CRT are just obnoxious.

sorry but i agree with >>55202696
i have a Toshiba colorstream CRT (made on 05) and it's 4:3, 27 inch, has component input along with the usual suspects, and it is great. Only sad part is that i have to do a cap swap as the H-Hold cap is blown and i get some lines here and there up top (had that tv almost ten years now, it's been moved across great distances). I think CRT is good for systems that were built for it, like everything up to the last generation. My 360 even looks good on it. I only use it now in my bedroom as i emulate most everything, with a RPi2 running with a 5:4 LCD Xplio with built in speakers, and my modded Xbox via Component to my Samsung 32" flatpanel at 1080i
