I know some of the DOS viruses he goes over are super cool. It's interesting when you look at the change in viruses from little nuisances or jokes to being malicious.

The GTA5 mod one.

I once got a virus that survived multiple windows clean installs (full hardrive was not formatted , only windows partition was).
It infected the the new windows some 20 30 minutes after clean install every time.
When i got online IT updated itself.

happened like 6-7 years ago so I can't remember all the details, but

>get what I assume was a worm from merely visiting a free music blog, didn't click anything
>screen immediately gets flooded with popups, false security warnings and the like
>immediately unplug the ethernet cable and force shutdown
>run various trusted virus scans, they keep finding shit but one by one start identifying and deleting THEMSELVES
>all virus protection is now gone by way of self-destruction
>several hours of manually deleting recent files ensues as a last ditch effort
>obviously doesn't work
>restart in safe mode
>temporarily have restored control but shit starts slowly getting infected
>can actually see windows slowly falling apart in safe mode
>decide "fuck it, I lose" and restart into linux partition to search for help
>linux is somehow fully fucked too
>music library is full of audio advertisements and a few fucked up recordings of some guy ranting about his girlfriend or something
>browser only redirects to porn sites
>realize that this was wayyyyyy beyond my computer knowhow
>turn computer off
>wouldn't turn back on

it was a piece of shit anyways so I just took that as a reason to build a new one, but good god was that fun

A shit tier virus who runs on my school computers

Changing all your USB folders in hidden system folders, and create instead a FUCKING SHORTCUT to an others hidden folders with the virus himself

Not hidden behind a rootkit, not protected, you don't even need an antivirus to delete it (just need to know where it install himself, which is the public users folders)

An adware. It also made its own registry keys and added every antivirus and registry cleaner (CCleaner) on a blacklist in regedit, even regedit.exe was blocked. Took me an hour until I realised I had to rename the exe files to run adware cleaner and remove those keys.

But malware from the 90s is art
Malware nowadays are just made for profit such as ransomware and keyloggers
>>
I had a ransomware that wanted me to do a survey, got it off a steam keygen. The problem was that it also would close any browser windows and try to delete my system32 if it thought i was trying to remove it. Which means it couldn't be completed, because it would close the survey. What an absolutely shit piece of code.

anyways, booted into a a flashdrive running ubuntu, fired up a vm, and ran mwb. in hindsight, i shouldn't have disabled my av for the keygen if it was triggering the shield. lesson learned, no harm, no foul.

Found one a few years back on a public high school's computer. It put a copy of itself in every single folder it could access, which included every student's and teacher's network drive. Fortunately for the school (and unfortunately for my sides), it wouldn't autorun on a computer that hadn't run it already.

It also managed to fill an elementary school's network drive on the other side of the county, which for whatever reason was linked to the high school.

PC Cleaner Pro. Not much for anyone who knows his shit, but death for normies.

http://www.pccleaner.com/

The uninstall actually opens the software, so you need a third party software to remove it.

I did a fair bit of swapping in the late 80s/early 90s on the Atari ST platform: sending floppy disks through the post, often internationally, in jiffy bags. These might be diskmags/zines, or other software. One of my correspondents was a lovely woman from Slovenia called Katja, who went by the name of "Lucky Lady". We wrote to each other frequently, penpal-style, in the early days of the scene: she taught me a lot.

She didn't release into the wild, so only a few of her creations survive: she also corresponded with a few other people, including the person who wrote the most popular virus killer at the time.

One of her disks featured a multipartite bootsector/link virus, which transparently encrypted (and on-the-fly decrypted) the data on floppy disks when spreading to them. You had to boot it to read her disk.

It was otherwise pretty benign, except that it also contained, in its linkvirus form (the bootsector form ate dummy entries on the second FAT because it was oversized), a malformed symbol table featuring a stack overflow exploit for the popular debugger MonST, as a lovely trap for anyone who may attempt to analyse the virus - causing it to instead display a message to the effect that "Lucky Lady is your empress !" and reboot the machine into a tiny reset-proof payload routine that drew scrolling bombs over the screen.

It was the first buffer overflow exploit I'd ever seen: she totally blew my mind with it, caught me off guard. I never expected she could infect me through the debugger.

She's been gone a little over two decades. I miss her.
>>
around 2003-4 i got a virus from kazaa or something p2p that filled up my HDD with erroneous files until it was completely full / used all CPU /disk IO etc

pretty easy fix just had to reformat windows on it
>>
>>55133256
I have no idea what it was but I had a virus that took pics of me every few minutes and saved it , I only knew this because when I gave my friend my computer to fix it he found pictures of me masturbating and playing dress up, still gives me shit for it till this day but it's pretty surprising how viruses have advanced

Once my pirated antivirus (bitdefender, i think it was) released an update which caused it to think literally every file in my system32 is a birus. When I sat down on my computer, almost everything was gone, lel. There was a real outrage on the forums.

>>55144785

>Mpc cleaner
Not really interesting but it's literal cancer, hard to get rid of one it's there and it keeps growing. It's all in your face style too, it doesn't just fuck you up stealthily it adds new icons to the desktop and shows pop-ups and turns your browser homepage into a Japanese site that leads to sexcam sites.
>>
>>55139964
Wew reminded me of something that happened recently, my brother got a miner, and a ton of other shit from downloading cs 1.6 from some shady site, wiped his laptop and bought cs:go for him.
>>
>>55145781
It also deletes rkill when it's downloaded, blocks adwcleaner and probably fucks with other cleaning tools as well. Worst of all it's Japanese or some shit so you can't ask it to fuck itself nicely and uninstall.

I saw one that did not infect anything, in fact it wasn't even found on the system in any way... but kept popping up window ads even on what was pretty much a fresh install.

Turns out that whatever it was, it logged into the router (using the default login), and changed the DNS server on the connection type to its own.

once went to my grandmothers house as a child. wanted to play some vidyas, but granny said "use the other PC anon that one has a virus I think". fucking computer just sat there opening and closing the disc drive on itself over and over and over despite being in sleep mode. turn it on and log into the default account, everything is really laggy and slow, pop-ups everywhere. stupid disc drive still going. There was a semi-popular sub7-clone RAT once that, after it had been installed, would post some info to a php page (IP, port, credentials, status, etc).
A ton of skiddies didn't bother changing the default address to one they owned before sending the RAT to their victims, which means that the default php used as an example listed a shitton of infected computers. I would spend whole afternoons connecting to these IPs and using the RAT's self-removal function after leaving a txt file on the desktop with the RAT's access log (- my ip).

That was fun.
