Security cameras! What type of cameras do you guys use?
None, which is perhaps an oversight. I just don't like how vague the laws can be about "expectation of privacy." Should people expect privacy in my living room? I don't know. I use a Mobius Action Cam in my car as a dashcam though. Not so much for security but instead to keep the record straight.

Assuming the US as long as you put a small sticker on your door informing people that they are being recorded you are all set.

At the risk of sounding creepy, that pisses me off. As long as I'm not putting the cameras in bedrooms and bathrooms I don't agree that I should need to warn people. If they're going to do something shitty then they don't deserve warning. If they plan on being reasonable people then it makes no difference except to put them at unease with an unnecessary notification.
I don't see what value it is that such notification is protecting. Oh well.
Raspi and webcam, but I'm not using it for security

I just looked up the laws in my state and it's only prohibited in places where a person could be expected to be in a state of undress. Looks like I'm in the clear to cover open living spaces without any stickers. I should get on that.
for what purpose? dash cam, home security, office security, something you can walk around with in case you need to film covertly, etc?

Foscam, works well now that they fixed most of the retarded security problems.
