A video I promised someone:
Zelda OOT running parallel to Video Girl Ai (SD) with subtitles. The game is running a bit slow but I still found it to be very impressive. This is a 2011, single core 1ghz phone with 512mb ram that shipped with Android 2.2. Android 6.0 runs flawlessly, despite the shitty specs.

Yeah I saw that one.
You not going to reduce your dpi a bit? Stock is way over scaled.
>>
>need a good phone with long battery life
>1+3 has good sized battery and smaller screen, which should mean less drain from screen

Is my logic right or is there some wriggle here? I don't watch videos or anything on my phone, I just want something that will handle most non-game apps smoothly, and keep a charge with moderate use (Browser, Square and Clover mainly) on and off for most of a day. Not getting too hot would be nice as well. I've had problems with my current phone (Galaxy s4) overheating after being outside when it gets really sweltering here.

I don't really care about storage, most of my listening is audiobooks and I just swap them when I finish them since I carry my laptop on any trip longer than a day
>>
>>55097718

not that old, and it was a flagship, so hardware is still nice

With LG, the bootloop is eternal and inescapable

Looking for a phone 4.8-5.5" with good cam, audo, battery, screen, etc..
You know, overall good phone for up to 400€ with full EU LTE support.

I've already narrowed it down to the following:

Moto G4 Plus 4/64GB, good specs but plastic.. -- 344€
P9 Lite, good specs but shit UI.. -- 290€
OPX, overall very good, shit battery.. -- 240€
OP3, overall very good, concerned about battery.. -- 400€
ZUK Z 2, very nice but not available in EU.. -- ca. 300€
RN3P, very nice but not available in EU.. -- ca. 250€
Zenfone 3, good, but prob. not available in EU.. -- ca. 300€
Nexus 5, good but absolutely disgusting battery and used.. -- ca. 150€
Moto Z Force, big question mark..

Does anyone have some suggestions, recommendations what to get and why?
I'd prefer something i don't have to import myself, since it's always related to some kind of hassle.

>>
>>55097806
Paying 320 Euro for and old flasgsip with an SD808 is retarded no matter how your'e going to spin this.
N5X and Mi4c have the same SoC for half of it. also, the bootloop is not fixed, and LG won't give a shit if it breaks.

wasn't that bootloop problem a hardware-related thing? could it be that LG fixed that with later-built models?

Hey /spg/, could you recommend me a phone near the 150$ mark? I'm open to any chink stuff, yet I'd like the store to have an EU warehouse.
>>
>>55097877
OP3 is the safest bet IMO. already has CM13 running.
>>
>>55097877
Also, all those chinks you listed will ship to EU from China. takes a while but might be worth it with the RN3P or Zuk Z2.
>>
>>55097951
Redmi 3 Pro/ Redmi 3S Pro.
I think gearbest has an EU warehouse, or fast DHL shipping to Europe.
>>
>>55098032
Shipping via DHL cost ca. 20€ and i've to pay 19% of the total as taxes.
Meaning if i buy a chinkphone for 300€, i'll pay 20€ shipping and 57-61€ taxes, depending on whether they inlcude the shipping costs or not, resulting in ca. 380€ total.
This problem aside, importing means you don't have full support from EU, which is always bad.
>>
>>55098008
I'm kind of leaning towards the OP3, too.
It's expensive and over my budget, but if the battery doesn't suck it's worth the money.
P9 Lite looks good, too, but imo overpriced for the specs at 290€ and the UI is, well..

Welcome to Jewmany, my dear friend.
Moto G4 Plus, the 4/64GB variant indeed looks very nice, but 344 for those specs? I don't know..
Difference between Moto G4 Plus and OP3 are 55€, maybe i save for another wait 1 month more and spend the fucking shekels on the OP3.
God the absurdity of the tech industry infuriates me.
>>
>>55098455
>Moto G4 Plus, the 4/64GB variant indeed looks very nice, but 344 for those specs? I don't know..

Yeah, 344€ for and SD617 is quite ridiculous. it's basically an SD616 with more bands. the Redmi 3 is selling for ~$140 with that chip.
At least with the OP3 you get SD820 and shitload of RAM.
>>
>>55098558
Looks like the OP3 is the clear winner. God all that money gone.
Probably have to buy a new PC, too, since my current one might have died.
Guess it's a year of dry bread, water and no fun allowed then.
>>
>>55098652
There has to be German retailers with the RN3P and other chinks in stock so you can avoid customs right? there are local shops here in my tiny European country that stock them so they must exist in Germany..
They do have a markup over Ali, but sometimes it's still worth it.
>>
Getting new phone in august. Should I get a 6p or one plus 3? Or any other suggestions? The only thing I dont care about is the camera so just good general phones.

Then get moto x pure. You won't regret it. Never consider any Asustism phone. Especially the budget one.
>>
>>55098690
Unfortunately, as far as i know, there is no german or european reseller.
If i had the possibility to avoid 20€ shipping + customs, it's easy RN3P or other chinkphone.
Some shops on Ali offer shipping from EU/germany, but none offers a phone i'm interested in, mostly only Dogee or Cubot.

Is fixed on models from last December to current month. Ignore those faggots, LG will replace or repair your phone for free ir you get an affected model.

The latest sofware update solves battery drain and increases battery life. You can flash it manually with LGUP and debloat your device in the process.

I keep hearing good things about the Galaxy S7. What are the cons of this phone, and is the Edge much better than the base?
>>
>>55100743
Do you have a source for that? My LG G4 I bought in May 2015 bootlooped last week and I got a replacement from my carrier that was manufactured in May 2016. I was looking for info on if the problem was actually fixed but I did not find anything confirming that, just that LG acknowledged it is a problem.
>>
>>55097800
Everyone is saying its a great phone, and dash charge is fucking killer supposedly. Go for it
>>
>>55100800
The cons are for starters its actually slower in real life application than the latest iPhone.

If you buy it in the US you will get the Snapdragon variant which has a slower CPU than the Exynos(international model), but a better GPU apparantly.

The edge has larger battery life and a bigger screen. The edged screen itself is basically a gimmick though. All around, there is no contest that it is the best Android phone at the moment.

Asking here since the Dumb Questions thread never responded.

Currently studying abroad in Japan and needed to get a new phone. I bought an iPhone and put my SIM card in but my mobile network isn't working unlike how it previously did with my now dead Galaxy S4. My carrier is Tmobile so it has a partnership with some of the local carriers I think to allow for access to their network while here. I know the phone is SIM unlocked as well as I bought it from the apple store and have been able to text home.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do or if there's something I did wrong? It's my first iPhone so I'm not all that familiar with it yet.

Been using it for a couple months now. Absoloutely love it. It's fast as fuck, emulates psp games near perfect, camera is great, feels nice in hand, decent call quality, screen is beautiful, water resistant.

Cons:
-Battery is meh, pretty typical android battery life
-always touch edges by accident
-takes some time getting used to the look of edges

I also only paid 179$ (final) for it, so I can't complain.
>>
>>55101841
My current plan has run out so since I'm going to since renew it I'll get a new phone also. I'm, thinking around the $40-45/month price at most. I'd like to have decent amounts of storage space (my current phone is a pain to deal with cause it's only got 8 Gb, I think). I saw the HTC one X9 and it seems pretty good. It's a lot of features like those of the higher end ones but it's cheaper.

I honestly don't know. I just bargained with the Verizon employee. Told him the edge program was too much, told him I'm ready to buy today if we could come up with a decent price. With some crazy black magic that made no sense, he told me that if I traded in my old phone, bought this little 4g hotspot thing, and changed my data plan, he could work out a deal. He made some phone calls and ended up at 229 (+tax), then gave me a 50$ mail in rebate that brought it down to 179. At the end, I only paid 179$ total for the s7 edge and hot spot device (I think its called jetpack). Data plan is only like 5$ more a month. Don't ask me how he worked it out, I don't even really know.

Would you buy an iPhone that runs Android?
>>
>>55102423
Whats the point? The reason iPhones work so well is because they are so well optimized. Without the iOS package they are just some shitty device with no ram. At least the storage is still fast I suppose.
>>
>>55102350
I've tried an iPhone cause people were used to say it was pretty good. Never getting another one again. What do you think of a galaxy S5? I was considering betwen those 2, but the Huawei G8 has better features.
What do you mean by the skin? The case/cover of the phone?
>>55102354
You're spot on with your deductions. I was unsure of what to choose because of their respective limiting features. I like a longer battery life cause my current phone dies pretty quickly, but at the the same time (due to low storage, I think) it freezes up and/or crashes quite often. Also I'm kinda interested in trying out the edge notification thing they got going on. It seems useful but I'm not sure if it's work the price.
>>
>>55102440
Cosmetics. People like Apple shit because it looks good and gives off status. Just look at those green bubble memes.
>>
>>55102441
Also forgot to ask, what's better; talk time or standby time?

btw anyone else also getting lots of store front captchas?
>>
>>55102478
been getting a lot of those captchas for awhile now.
i'd say it depends on your usage. as long as it can last a day or so you should be ok
>>
>>55102441
The s5 doesn't have an edge, if that's what you meant. Only the s6 edge and s7 edge, and there are models without edges.
>>
why after a while does my games fps drop from 60 to like 40 ish (im only guessing the framerates)? this is with a galaxy S7 non-edge
>>
I got this guy for 179. It's pretty cool. Lower res screen gives me really good battery. I got 6.5hours of on screen of straight streaming twitch/youtube and some vlc after muh torrenting.

Another day, another try: any news from India about the Moto G4, or news from the US about its release date/price here?
>>
>>55102511
makes sense I've been on the chin to shitpost for almost a month from last week.
>>55102535
Well that makes my decision a lot easier. I thought it had the function where you see notifications on the side of your screen and manipulate it by adding stuff you wanted to keep track of.

Thanks for the help senpaitachi.
>>
>>55102555
probably the cpus are throttling back due to excess heat. i really wish they could figure out a good heatsink design.
question for you anon: how slippery is that phone since it's all glass?
honestly i don't get it. just put a grippier leather back like the s5/note 4. my s4 slides out of my hand and it's plastic, not glass.

thanks
>>
>>55102626
who gives a shit how slippery it feels when it goes straight from the box to a case

Thinking of buying an s7 or an s7 edge. Is it a good idea to buy from Samsung or are there other options I should consider? I plan to buy outright since its cheaper.
>>
>>55102780
Also, does Samsung offer a warranty? Can't see anything on their site.

>>55102812
Apparently in my country it is the Exynos.
>>
>>55102812
Depends where you live. If you live outside US you will probably have the Exynos. The CPU is faster and apparantly doesn't drain the battery as much either, but the GPU is worse.

S7 is great as long as your photos do not contain foliage or high contrast elements. A pity that its over sharpening creates a halo of sorts around such things.
>>
>>55102650
Lad, I'm not on the edge program, did you even read my post. 179 was the FINAL price. No other payments. I think it was just some crazy deal going on and I got lucky.
>>
Anyone know where I can get a 1+3 in the UK or should I just put an order and wait 2 weeks with a broken phone?
>>
Do you lads suggest the s7 or s7 edge. I thinking the edge for the size and battery, but does it have any cons besides higher price?
>>
>>55102812
i heard it's a crapshoot. you get whatever samsung distributes at the time.

how good is 32gb of storage? will i be getting buyers remorse with no sd card?
>>
>>55102875
you may not like the actual edge. some find it gimmicky and not necessary. best go watch some reviews and hold it in your hands and play with it at the store
>>
>>55102877
you can always get it later
>>
>>55102877
>>55102915
The Australian site only offers 32, what's the deal with that?
>>
>>55102915
i need one sooner rather than later because my phone is starting to die. im so torn between the note and the phone.

also, still curious on how slippery the glass back feels
>>
>>55102966
way too slippery to use without a case or skin. If it was a cheap ass phone maybe you could risk it but not for 600+ bux
>>
>>55103021
linus was shilling dbrank skins. wondering if the leather one would be any good. thoughts?
>>
also pisses me of that they would make this thing useless without a case just to make it "pretty" when you'll never see it and waste money on the glass.
>>
>>55102875
I've had the edge since it came out, the actual edges annoyed me a lot in the beginning, but I got used to it.The edges will touch your skin and move the screen sometimes, but you will naturally figure out how to hold it. Getting a case helps a LOT with this.
>>
>>55103021
Do you guys have any suggestions on covers? I'd like some heavy duty shit because I'm a clumsy fuck
>>
>>55103043
never tried any. Also the trim is a bit slippery and the phone isn't curved at all. Makes it harder to hold. Just try one in the store though.
>>
>>55103063
How so with the case? Does it cover or something? In which case doesn't it defeat the point?
>>
>>55103091
no, it doesn't cover the edge. When you hold it, your skin is a little further away from the screen with a case. You would understand if you tried it. In short, no, it doesn't effect the functionality of the edges.
>>
>>55103114
Cool, thanks for the replies.
>>
>>55103076
otterbox
my gf is an emt and it has really protected it in such a tough environment

looking for opinions on the note 5 versus s6
is the s pen useful or a meme and does that bit extra of screen space make it that much better or is it a hindrance when making calls with it and keeping it in your pocket?
it sucks that i can't test the pocket thing out since the phones are tethered to the display
im upgrading from an S4 btw
>>
cases are a meme perpetrated by phone stores. I know cause I worked there

selling an iphone makes us like $10
selling a case makes us like the entire price minus a few dollars
thats right goy, gotta get a case heheh

you can get a really good anker on newegg for a good price. go to best buy and a similar capacity is $70 or so iirc.

what about those glass screen protectors? are they any good? zagg has one that's 20 bucks and is glass

If you want a phone and don't care about ricing (even though you can do it with this phone), want the best android possible for your phone as soon as possible, then get the 6p. If you want a ricing phone with good performance get s7 or Oneplus 3 other then that 6p is still a good choice
>>
>>55103153

speaking of accesories does anyone here have a ram mount?
i guess you can use it in your car and motorcycle (if you buy the handlebar attachment)

Does anyone know if you can stop your (android) phone locking every time you turn off the screen? Like is there an option so that if I turn it off and on in the space of like 10 seconds it won't ask for fingerprint/pin again? Like some kind of timer or some shit on it?

Tired of entering that shit all the time.

I found the 2 following models :

Budget about 220 dollars, country France.

I'm ordering a Note 3 Pro from the chinks, do I need to bug them about anything else if I want full control over what I can flash on it?
>>
>>55104279
I want to buy one too. From what I see they come with locked bootloader so you'll need to make a mi account and request that your account is allowed to unlock it. After that you use their unlock tool and you're free to install twrp recovery and flash anything.
Apparently it's good to flash the ROM from xiaomi.eu because the stock global ROM is badly translated and has chink Botnet apps that are redundant. Also the EU ROM has some added features and better ram consumption.
I just wish the black/grey model was not so expensive: the white model is much cheaper, probably due to demand.
>>
>>55104348
I see. When I make this account does it matter what country I put in the registration form?

I recently bought an OPX.

Root + Greenify has helped my battery life but I worry that using Avast! antivirus will still whack a good portion off my battery life.
Is Xposed Framework something I should look into, to further enhance Greenify?
Also currently can't use Greenify's automated hibernation because this interferes with encryption.

Not sure but you'll need this account because the bootloader locks itself after each ROM flash so I would probably make a legit account with real info and hope that the chinks don't sell my info.

Leagoo shark 1(6300mAh) and oukitel k6000 pro (6000mAh) are cheap big battery phones. If you want more horsepower take a look at the Redmond note 3 pro or redmi 3s pro. If you can wait until October the oukitel k6000 premium would be worth. If you don't want chinkphones get one with removable battery and swap the battery with extended ones. Anker, Mugen, Hyperion and zerolemon serves different sizes and weight.

For warranty issues you need to send the phone back, you'd need to pay the shipment charges, but most resellers don’t charge for the return shipment though.
