Best monitor for the best price?

Bonus: best keyboard, mouse, speakers for the best price?

HP 23W
$1 Mechanical keyboard from a thrift store. Restore it yourself.
Intellimouse Explorer from a thrift store
Bookshelf speakers from the '70s or '80s with their receiver. Mid to high-end stuff only. Again, check thrift stores.

So what you're saying is keyboard, mouse and speakers can be very very cheap without sacrificing quality?

Thanks for the tips by the way

This would be true if the refresh rates at high resolutions weren't so slow on consumer monitors. OP, if you can get a CRT that does 1680x1050 at >85Hz, go for it.

Yep, most people just donate stuff to thrift stores because "it's old" and they feel the need to replace it with newer things, even if they have lower quality standards. Sure, the keyboard will look straight out from the '90s and will probably be a bit yellowed, but as long as it is mechanical and isn't over $3, it isn't going to be a bad buy. The '70s and '80s look of audio receivers/amps still looks good to this day IMHO.

The problem with those old ass mechanical keyboards is that they are thick as a brick. Youd need something like pic related not to strain your wrist typing on one.
