If you are not dumb and understand that Mint was not hacked, but the website, and the attacker (Microsoft presumably) tried to defame them, Go for Mint Cinnamon.
If you have a little more experience, go for Manjaro or Devuan.

Probably Lubuntu since it's easy to install, has a desktop environment similar to windows and uses an incredibly small amount of RAM and other system resources(more left for gaems)
