WD Purple is for DVR/Security applications - it's designed for writing, sequential (not random) data and occasionally being able to read it back whilst still continuing to record well (incase you need to pull up security camera footage sometime)
Very low power, very low random read speeds but high reliability - it's not designed for general PC use.

Sounds like green will be fine for me. The only video I play is dwarf fortress. Have a SSD anyways for OS & certain programs.
