I've got an i7-950 and while my 212 Evo is good enough at stock clock speeds, when I OC it the temps get up to 70-80 degrees under load.

Whats a good step up from this budget cooler?

forget about invsting any actual $ to increase that
especially when you already have tower heatsink with 120mm fan, as the benefit from investing $60+ would be quite small

If you're thinking long term, NH-D15 and NH-C14S have good fans and good mounting system that will last a long time and can be moved to future upgrades.

If you're thinking short term gratification, don't bother upgrading because 80C is fine and you won't get much performance improvement out of the price you spent on it.

70-80 is well within acceptable parameters.

You sure that your thermal interface isn't just dried out?
