Taking into account the previous 970/60/50, I don't think that it would be more cheeper than 1080.
If anyone actually falls for this crossfire shit they will end up being so disillusioned with AMD that they will become a life long Nvidia customer.

Unreliable. First the source is AMD and thus biased. Second "utilization 51%?" 51% of what? VRAM? Multi-GPU scaling? Fan speed max?

It wouldn't surprise me if dual 480's lagged behind one 1080 by 10% on average. It wouldn't be too bad actually.
Even though crossfire/SLI is a meme, the 480 can compete against the 970 and it has a lower price.

Expect no cfx for many games, expect barely more than 50% for others, and expect almost perfect scaling for the rare, well built game like bf4.
