I fell for a AIO cooler a little over 2 years ago because someone on /g/ talked me into getting one and the pump just died.

Are these things that unreliable? 80 dollars and it lasts barely over 2 years.
>>
>>55026708
>Are these things that unreliable?
yes. they are also louder (more moving parts), more expensive and only cool 1-6°C better. you fell for a meme
>>
>>55026708
mine has been going almost non-stop for three years now and it still runs fine
>>
>>55026708
>and only cool 1-6°C better

Maybe on idle temps you only get 1-6 C better, but when you run something like DX12, Vulcan or Mantle, it really makes a big difference since that uses all your cores.
>>
>>55026803
>it really makes a big difference

you're right, a good full size air tower shits all over AIOs for less cost!

do you have any tests to back up your claim?
>>
>>55026803
Full loop watercooling if you have money to blow or bigass aircooling if you want quiet, reliable operation.
AIO has always ben a meme.
>>
the only reason to get an AIO in my case was because better air coolers don't fit in my case

>the API used matters for cooling
are you fucking retarded?
>>
>>55027522
Actually, he makes a point. API DOES matter as long as it unlocks more power from the part.
DX12 Ashes of the Singularity pushes AMD's GCN architecture to its ABSOLUTE limits thanks to async and it shows in the thermals
DX11 Ashes doesn't push it quite as hard.

This is LITERALLY because the API allowing more use out of the hardware.
>>
>>55027561
100% load = 100% load. regardless of what API used. he's not making a point, just being stupid.
>>
>>55027608
Well how about you explain why DX12 Ashes raises temperature of AMD cards to be HIGHER than DX11 Ashes?
>>
>THEY FELL FOR THE WATER COOLING PUMP MEME
>>
My AIO looks nicer and allows more room for me to access stuff when I need to.
>>
Aio is not worth it compared to a big Air cooling. Do a full loop or stick to all air.

[citation needed]

might be within the margin of error, or some other factors. unless you run the same benchmark 5 times per DX version and average it out.
>>
>>55027782
I have. I don't have citation because I don't have the stock cooler on my Fury X any more and thus my open loop would simply nullify any results I could possibly get anyway - but it definitely did make a difference.

I am still using my original Corsair H50 from over 5 years ago. My machine is powered off every night and restarted during the day.

Never had an issue.
>>
>>55027608

There isn't a single DX11 game where AMD GPUs reach 100% utilization.
>>
>>55028235
You should probably check your temps. The liquid starts to gunk up after 2 years. You probably aren't getting the cooling you want, only the cooling you deserve.

>tfw spreading the louder maymay
sure, if you fucking shove your whole fucking face into your case, and even then, you'd hear your fans more than the pump, when will this maymay end?

I'm running 4 SP120s in push/pull and don't even hear them running, even at load.

Just buy the biggest air cooler you
Can afford
And will fit in the your case without clearance issues.

Aka the hyper 212 evo. I've had the same twin heatsink cooler since for years now. Until I run into a socket that I don't have brackets for, I'll keep using it. It is literally a giant chunk of aluminum and copper. What's the worst that happens? Dust build up? A Fan's bearings die? Easily replaceable and cheap to do so.

Meanwhile if an AiO unit dies, take the whole unit and toss it. Or play phone tag with corsair support and wait 3 weeks for it to be sent out, diagnosed, and hopefully warrantied.

post a test that confirms your claims or fuck off

this thread is about aio coolers, not custom loops or modded shit

the fuck are you talking about, did i ever said i had a custom loop? i have an h100i and i never had any issues with it. poofans really are autistic holy shit, i bet you love watching linustechtips too don't you.
>>
nothing will ever beat the hyper 212 evo. It's the citizen cain of coolers
>>
Can someone here suggest me a 280mm AiO? currently thinking about getting a h110i GT, but i'm open to suggestions.

my brain tells me to buy the phanteks ph-tcp14 or whatever its called but my penis tells me to get an aio for that aesthetic for gutsposting.

Jesus Christ

You probably got lucky then. Pump life on industrial pumps is about 2-3 years. At my plant, we toss them after 2.
>>

>>
>>55030502
not him, but it kinda makes sense. i mean why else would aios have 5-6 year warranties?
>>
>>55030525
Who the fuck uses the same cooling solution for longer than 5 years though honestly?

If it dies after 5 years I can cope with paying another hundred bucks.

t. not poor

If it died after 2 I'd be angry

Uhm, isnt the link in
>>55030180
Stating those"facts"? Honestly if you have the spare dosh for an aio cooler with quiet fans, what's wrong with that?
>>
these coolers have a very specific usage case
they are for low profile builds where there is extremely limited room, and an air cooler will not fit

otherwise more expense, more noise, more heat, less reliability
only use them where they're supposed to be used
or build proper
>>
i've had the same AIO cooler from corsair for the last 4 years and it still functions perfectly.

Zero maintenance whatsoever save for blowing out the fans and cooler grill.
