I fell for a AIO cooler a little over 2 years ago because someone on /g/ talked me into getting one and the pump just died.
Are these things that unreliable? 80 dollars and it lasts barely over 2 years.

Maybe on idle temps you only get 1-6 C better, but when you run something like DX12, Vulcan or Mantle, it really makes a big difference since that uses all your cores.

DX12 Ashes of the Singularity pushes AMD's GCN architecture to its ABSOLUTE limits thanks to async and it shows in the thermals
DX11 Ashes doesn't push it quite as hard.
This is LITERALLY because the API allowing more use out of the hardware.

My AIO looks nicer and allows more room for me to access stuff when I need to.
Aio is not worth it compared to a big Air cooling. Do a full loop or stick to all air.

Aka the hyper 212 evo. I've had the same twin heatsink cooler since for years now. Until I run into a socket that I don't have brackets for, I'll keep using it. It is literally a giant chunk of aluminum and copper. What's the worst that happens? Dust build up? A Fan's bearings die? Easily replaceable and cheap to do so.
Meanwhile if an AiO unit dies, take the whole unit and toss it. Or play phone tag with corsair support and wait 3 weeks for it to be sent out, diagnosed, and hopefully warrantied.

these coolers have a very specific usage case
they are for low profile builds where there is extremely limited room, and an air cooler will not fit
otherwise more expense, more noise, more heat, less reliability
only use them where they're supposed to be used
or build proper
i've had the same AIO cooler from corsair for the last 4 years and it still functions perfectly.
Zero maintenance whatsoever save for blowing out the fans and cooler grill.
