Whats wrong for Canonical picking Mir over Wayland?
Because wayland needs more attention. Wayland is sponsored by freedesktop. More standards = better os.

Everything they have done so far has been shit though.

mir is deprecated
it doesn't even have drivers
Wayland was already finalized and software was incorporating support for it when Canonical decided to go against the grain and introduce their own NIH thing. Mir is basically like another X, it's an all in one display server/protocol, window manager, compositor, desktop environment, and it handles inputs. Wayland is just a protocol. Wayland's model is decentralized to avoid becoming a clusterfuck like how X became at the end.

for example? and why is it bad?

>have Ubuntu 16.04 LTS VM
>literally runs like shit
>opening the dash takes forever
>similar resources used to created a windows 10 VM
>runs smooth as fuck

no thx, they cant even fix the mouse input lag, at this point they should pick up dead lxde and rewrite it to have gnome2 look/workflow.
