Where does /g/ lease their domains from? I'm wondering if there are any cheaper services than the popular GoDaddy, 1 and 1, etc...
Are there any privacy concerns to be had about these services?

Go Daddy is overpriced as well as against net netruality, go with NameCheap or Gandi.
i have a domain and hosting from godaddy, it works fine i guess. i just use it for offsite file hosting more than anything else since the actual web site hosting is pretty slow.
pretty cheap for what it does. leaves much to be desired since if i host very large files the server will close the connection before people can download it, so you have to use ftp to pull anything down
