I'm trying to grasp what the artist is trying to communicate. Is he suggesting the various switches for terminal commands are often ridiculous and useless? Well, I can't say he's wrong.
XKCD doesn't really bother me, randal is dumb but he was never pretending to be intelligent anyway.
What does bother me is that explain-xkcd exists and they annotate every single XKCD comic with explainations and footnotes that are often inaccurate, and always end up ruining whatever joke randal was trying to make.
And they do this for even the most piss-basic comics.
It could be set in a theater and the footnotes would still explain what a movie theatre is and why they exist.
