Im trying to decide which Gtx 1080 I should purchase now that aftermarket versions have been released. I was originally going to get the Msi gaming x version, but it is going for $720 on newegg. So which partner card has the best performance? Asus Strix, Gigabyte G1, or EVGA FTW edition? All are $650-680

pretty much all the cards will be in the same performance range, given silicon lottery and factory bios settings.
When I'm looking for a new card i just look for whatever is cheapest. Usually ends up being MSI or Gigabyte
