I dont care about mechanical keybords because i dont like the long key travel distance

Can i have some recommendations for a slim KB?

I had a cherry easyhub, it was well built with a metal base but the square keys without the diagonal edges are a hell to type with and tooke me months to get used to (it died from a spilled drink)
Got a (spillproof) fujitsu 910 but this shit barely lastey beyond the 1 year warranty, with keys getting (physically) stuck, creaking and being louder than even a mechanical KB.
Currently considering a Rapoo KB, they look sexy and the build quality is solid but the arrow keys freak me out a little

I apologise if it sounds stupid but I never had the chance to use a mechanical keyboard because of the fact that I live in a third world shithole.
From what I understand there isn't any bump when using red, but then does it still feel really different from a rubber dome keyboard?
Isn't the whole point of a mechanical keyboard to have that feedback?
>>
>>55008321

MOST rubberdomes are kinda in between linear and tactile. They have a very linear tactileness (and are generally 'slow' feeling). A linear vs a tactile switch sits on polar opposites of the rubberdome.

>From what I understand there isn't any bump when using red, but then does it still feel really different from a rubber dome keyboard?
Yes. Rubber domes are more tactile than most Cherry MX switches because the latter are ultimately linear by design.

>>55008321
>Isn't the whole point of a mechanical keyboard to have that feedback?
Not necessarily. For me, mechanical switches are simply a means to a more consistent and pleasant typing experience. Whether you like feedback or not is entirely up to preference, though personally I can't stand linear switches.

Of course, it doesn't have to be mechanical to achieve such experience (see Topre).

Look at the inside and see if anything's broken (e.g. The membrane inside) or just plug it into a computer and find out if it actually works. How difficult is this?
>>
>>55013069
I don't want to take it apart if I can, and I'm not sure if it will do anything if I plug it in anyway since it's a terminal keyboard, hence why I want to ask someone that knows.
>>
>>55013080
If you don't want to open it up or actually just test if it works, then no, you have no option of seeing if it's functional.

Beats me, I'm no expert at all and I have no idea what gives you the idea that I am.

It just seems quite obvious that if you want to see if something's functional, you either have to test if it does actually function, or check if the components that are crucial to the functionality are all intact.

Go find a terminal.

the razers use some of the worst cherry clone switches. keycaps are both nonstandard size and poor quality ABS plastic

if you don't want noise, sell it and buy a board with MX clears.

not without desoldering, honestly you can get maybe 70-90 bucks from selling it and buy a better/quieter board with the money. that's the route I'd go

so i think zeal might have designed it, but gateron makes them, which then he sells for a massive markup

Yeah from what I heard, Zeal submitted the stem designs, which were slightly altered MX Clear stems, to Gateron.

>which then he sells for a massive markup

Seriously, Zealios for $1 a switch? That's fucking ridiculous, even if they're his own switches.

>but gateron started just selling his design anyway without permission

The question is though, did he have any agreement for them not to, in writing? Of course the laws in China are most likely different from Canada's.

>The question is though, did he have any agreement for them not to, in writing?
I can't confirm "in writing", but he stated that he had an exclusivity agreement.
>>
>>55018385
are you sure?

the 3 bottom row keys to the left and right of the space bar look standard

the noppoo choc mini im looking at on amazon has two standards with a f-row between on the left side, and 2 f-rows with a standard on the right side

i would suspect it's a keycool 84, but that has 3 f-row keys to the right of the space bar.
>>
>>55018580
Wonder what he would be able to do then in that situation then. I bet Gateron will be reluctant to just stop producing clears, since they've been selling out on Winkeyless relatively quickly.

Hey not sure if anyone can help me with this, but I just bought a Ducky One TKL and can't seem to get the media keys to work for the life of me. The instructions say the FN + Window + A B or C will do things to the volume(which is mainly the thing I'm concerned with), but it just doesn't seem to work.
