Give it to me straight, are there any real advantages to memeanical keyboards other than muh loud noises and long keystrokes?

I'd say about the difference between a membrane keyboard and a mechanical keyboard is about the same as the difference between a touchscreen and real keys on a cellphone.

That they both suck in different ways?

One gives more tactile feedback and is more accurate.

night and day, i can't go back to non mechanical anymore.
every time i press a key, i know i pressed it for one, and i know that it actually pressed for two. for a long time with a membrane keyboard i thought i just didn't press the keys, i was, the membrain just didn't register the press every time.
>too thick, hurts wrists
>keystrokes too long
>too loud
How is this good again?

Mechanical feels better desu. But I won't be surprised if I still type faster on membrane due to shorter keystrokes.
They're just a gimmick
Scissor switch keyboards are where it's at. The short distance it takes to actuate keys makes you type faster and reduces overall strain during long periods of typing.

>shorter key travel automatically means faster typing rate
pic rel: greatest keyboard ever made
