Out of curiosity, why do people think AMD is cheaper? Electricity in NYC is 35c a kwh, so it's either paying upfront (Intel) or paying later (AMD). Why even bother with AMD if Intel is just as performant, if not better, and cheaper in the long run?
>>
Fuck off shill
>>
>>54895924
I'm being completely serious. A 9590 costs $60 a month in electricity. Why would I bother?

What. The. Actual. Fuck. You are considering that it runs at full-load, reaching the full 225W of TDP (which doesn't means power consumption by itself), 24/7.
>>
>>54895930
An fx 6300 is 95w, an i5 3470 is 77w, an i5 2500 is 95w, and an i3 3220 is 55w.

The difference isn't too big, an fx6300 at stock offers between i5 3470 and i5 2500 performance in games that use 4 threads, and won't be using the full 95w since 2 threads won't be fully active.
>>
>>54895866
holy fuck your electric is expensive

faggot loser
>>
>>54895930
better not be buying high end i7 like i7 5960X.
>>
amd processor, let's say it's 200 watt(to the stars and beyond). 1 kwh = 3.600.000,0 watt
one month(30 days) is 60x60x24x30= 518400000 seconds
518400000 : 3.600.000 = 144 kWh
144 x 36 cents = 51 dollar and 84 cents per month
but your amd cpu is more likely 100 watt or less
cutting the cost in half.
>>
>>54896077
People don't run their CPU at 100% load every single second of the day.

which it isn't.>>54896077

HEDT chips are weapons-grade housefires, but It's Okay When Intel Do Itâ„¢.

It's just an i7 870

>>54895866
The real question is: i3 6100 or fx 6300?
>>
>>54896470
I3 6100 or wait for zen.

Similar cpu performance, but with the i3 you get ddr4 and significantly better ipc per core.

I don't think you're from the US at all. Side note, I live in Norway. Electricity here is ridiculously cheap, I could run a cluster of Netburst chips and still not notice it. I have a heat exchanger and underfloor heating in all rooms, all of which is running on electricity. I still don't pay more than ~$150 every two months. Maybe I should start mining buttcoins.
>>
>>54895866

If you care about electricity prices you should be using ARM
>>

Why not atom?
>>
>>54895866
NYC is a shithole.
>>
>>54897092
Because Intel killed Atom
>>
>>54897114
Doesn't mean it doesn't exist and it'll still perform well for a few more years.
>>
>>54897140
>atom
>good performance per watt

pick 1
>>
>>54897114
They killed Atom for mobile phones, they're still going to produce low power small core arches for a little while at least. Goldmount based chips are still coming out.
>>
>>54897114
No they didn't. They killed off the one made for smartphones. The "regular" Atom for tablets and notebooks is still being developed.

dang sorry to hear about that, here's what I would have to pay if I moved there

Do you have to run a dehumidifier? that was easily 20USD a month here.

What makes the phone oriented model special?

Can't OEMs stick an Atom SOC in a phone?
>>
>>54897175
Didn't they merge it with the celery?
>>
>>54895981
it's not that the reason. The 9590 requires special boards and a more powerful PSU.

You made it fucking retarded

AMD 200W CPU uses
>(1/5kWh / hr) x (24hr / day) x (30days / month) = 144kWh / month
>(144kWh / month) * ($0.36 / kWh) = $51.84 / month

The units cancel neatly dumbass
