For system drive encryption, what do you reckon is the better choice out of Diskcryptor and Veracrypt on Windows 7?
>>
>>54892821
Old good TrueCrypt.
>>
luks
>>
>>54892821
I like how BitLocker is all but confirmed to be backdoored by Microsoft and yet Apple FileVault 2 does full disk encryption that's basically idiot proof and works against law enforcement.
>>
>>54892882
I'm doing dm-crypt + luks on my laptop, my home folder is already ecryptfs'd.

My windows system drive has GPT, both Diskcryptor and Veracrypt only work with MBR. Is it possible to change in place?
>>
>>54893023
Upgrade to win 10 pro and turn on bitlocker.
>>
You get OSX and use FileVault you retard

m8 my threat model is the police, I'm not that dumb
>>
>>54893156
Windows is the botnet regardless.
>>
>>54893174
that may be, but the police isn't the NSA or GCHQ

LUKS
If you want security and have anything other than grsec installed you're retarded and are doing it wrong.

I need something that support virtual volume, it would be great if it can also be dynamically sized.

I use bitlocker with volume on dropbox but don't trust microsoft.

TrueCrypt/VeraCrypt
>>

>>54893219
TrueCrypt is no longer being developed.
>>
>>54893186
This guy had an encrypted system and they still got the contents. You're fucked bro.

and?
>>
Truecrypt is audited, so Truecrypt.
>>
>>54893319
Any security holes that could be potentially found in the software will never get patched.
>>
>>54893360
see
>>54893327
>>
>>54893327
The audit found problems, which Veracrypt has fixed, and Truecrypt has not, given it is no longer in development. There's nothing magical about auditors either, they can miss things.
>>
>>54893424
I used Truecrypt FDE on several computers without any problems.
I used Veracrypt FDE on a laptop of mine and it didn't decrypt after it was done.

So I'm kind of biased against using Veracrypt.
>>
>>54893467
I also saw another /g/ user complain about the same thing.
>>
>>54893467
Fair enough. I'm about to use the VeraCrypt beta with EFI/GPT support, wish me luck.
>>
Does anyone use a decoy os?
>>
What are the chances AES isn't compromised?
>>
>>54895513
Use multiple encryption algs. TrueCrypt and VeraCrypt offer the use of using multiple algs instead of just one.
>>
>>54893360

Truecrypt is just a front end for AES
>>
Anything other than VeraCrypt is wrong
