switched from 60hz to 144hz, never used 120hz.

However, switching from a 120hz monitor is pretty much a waste of money at this point. Wait until 144hz 1440p @ 1ms gets cheaper.

the gap between 120hz and 144hz isnt that big. I cant really notice it either.

60hz and 144hz however, if you can't notice the difference you might want to see a doctor.

It matters because you can play any video file (except PAL50 which nobody cares about) with perfect frame timing (using MPV and display-resample) without changing refresh rate.
