In the old days this happened by people buying boxed copies of the latest OS (and office, yadda yadda) every few years, or OEMs buying them and then including them with new PCs. Then computers got good enough for everything people wanted to do with them and people stopped being eager to upgrade. Most normies don't need anything more than XP or 7. Office got good enough for most people somewhere around '97.
So people aren't buying the latest stuff. MS wants to stop supporting old stuff as quickly as possibly, because that costs them money instead of bringing in more money. Basically MS needs change and churn to bring in money, and customers have been saying "No thanks, don't need it".
So MS decided to try and square the circle by going rolling-release. They'd give it away for free for a while to get everyone who was willing to jump on board quickly. Now they're pressuring the holdouts. The endgame here is a.) that MS will cut support costs by only having one OS to support, b.) they can monetize it by spying on you and selling the resultant data to third parties, and c.) they can herd everyone into their app store and take a cut of third-party software sales. Possibly, d.) once everyone is on Windows 10 they can start charging a monthly fee for it, like Adobe did with Photoshop.
So we've entered the "you're not the customer, you're the product being sold" phase, is what's going on. It's time to install Gentoo.

Something as simple as changing a look of the basic elements in the UI is enough to make them scream that the OS is garbage and stop them from using it in the fear that they'll "break something" or it's "too hard to use". I just backed up my laptops drive before I started my win10 upgrade. I go overboard with this shit.. I copied the inaccurate windows partitioning that rounds everything, aswell as cf disks printoff of the exact sector that each partition starts and ends at. I then made images of each partition excluding windows, because Im not making a 500gb image file.. after the images were made I copied the contents manually just to be sure the files are there and intact.
I dont trust windows 10, and Ill be damned if I let them fuck up my windows 7.

On Windows 7, I don't want aero, all I have to do is patch some system files and install another theme, which there are thousands. So that's a problem you can fix. On Windows 10? Damn, I wish. Microsoft is actively trying to break that.
