Hi there!
You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!
Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bait to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!

I am, but I'm becoming less and less impressed with it. It's the only distro that has that noticeable old Windows trait: it gets slower over time.

No, seriously. Am I missing something? I have everything I need for daily stuff installed, so what else could be causing it? Week to week everything takes longer, longer boot, longer login, longer loading of everything. I'm not trying to piss on Ubuntu's shoes here but it really is the only distro that has ever given me this shit.

Let's be honest. XFCE is fine as it is at the moment. Nothing that needs to be changed. It's just a simple flexible DE.
>>
Looks pretty decent, works pretty decent. Has plenty of features you -might- look into if you want something modern. Has better performance than Gnome 3 under the same hardware.

Maybe the issue is, it is really not that customizable. Most of the content out there for this is just a bunch of flat themes.

However there's something I will always love, which is consistency. Most programs look similar, like in OSX. Like they're integrated. This is not just Unity, I know. But when I have to deal with something like Windows 10, it really brings me to tears.

Outside of Ubuntu, other Linux distributors have tried to pick up Ayatana

Arch Linux offers many Ayatana components, including Unity and Unity 2D, via an unofficial repository or through AUR.[27]
Fedora does not offer Unity.. Newer Fedora and Unity versions are not supported.[30]
Frugalware... project is no longer maintained.[31]

I wholeheartedly agree. OS X is really shit at 3D games, window management (ootb, Spectacle fixes it), and virtualization. Other than that, it's a nearly perfect OS: very stable even on the supposedly unsupported hardware; the interface is polished and 90% of the apps follow the design guidelines; software is plentiful and its installation and upgrade is a breeze.

I dual boot, and it takes like 30 seconds to reboot from OS X to Windows 10. Though I don't play much lately.

>>
>>54886958
I just wish for something quicker. I experienced that my computer actually likes hackintosh and I have no complications whatsoever. The issue perhaps is clover, and I had someone suggest me to use this "ozmosis" thing which requires modding a bios file and flashing it but I'm not willing to take that risk on a cheap motherboard with very little recovery measures.

For instance, I love doom. I play a lot of it, and I tried gzdoom just recently on hackintosh, linux and windows. On Windows I don't have any issues, on linux it just requires an argument so I can disable pesky vsync if I'm using a heavy compositor (because I'm dumb as fuck and I'm sure there's a way to permanently disable it on compiz or something) but in OSX any game without vsync enabled is a complete mess.

>>54886960
Why would you use firefox on OSX? That's like using iTunes on Windows. Or Skype on linux.
>>
>>54887026
Long story short, you virtualize OS X, download OS X from the store, make a usb disquette, reboot and install it.
The most straightforward guide out there:
http://www.macbreaker.com/2015/10/install-osx-el-capitan-unibeast-hackintosh.html
>>54887027
I use clover as well and I never run into any troubles with it. But yeah, gaming on OS X is a mess because of Apple's retarded OpenGL implementation.

Though I think about installing Ubuntu as my daily driver OS because at the new job they use FOSS almost exclusively, both on the servers and workstations, and I gotta get more accustomed to the desktop Linux.
