Vista actually isn't that bad once you install all the updates. It just suffered the same fate as Windows 8 where it was a flop on launch but was slowly improved over time.

Hell my old Vista comp booted quicker than my Win7, then again it had a lot less on it.

Windows 7 came out 3 years later, has BIGGER system requirements, but barely anyone thinks it's slow.

the problem of that time was that the CPU improvement and performance that AMD and INTEL did at that time were huge. So you really need a new hardware for new system. If you look at improvement since windows 7 came, the performance improvements were way less steep. Vista was one of the key OS for MS, since it introduced WinMin.
