you could actually argue that companies are going to care about what consumers think about them more and more, the too big to fail banks and chemical companies already exist and have for 100 years, they've been able to literally do whatever they want and hide it, they're losing the ability to control information and mislead people, it's not there yet but all of the logic leads towards it.
