So I recently acquired my friends broken ps4
>spilled hot coffee on it
Any ideas how to fix?
Throw it in the trash

This is the tech board. This is a tech question.
>>54819648
Disassemble it. Further disassemble all moving parts, until you are left with only solid-state circuit boards. Photograph them and inspect for corrosion. Discharge capacitors, remove any batteries. Ideally isolate the PSU if this is possible with the PS4.
Wash thoroughly with water and liquid detergent. Be sure not to unseat or otherwise damage components when scrubbing. Rinse very thoroughly, with distilled water.
If contaminants remain, apply high purity isopropyl alcohol to the area. Allow to dry in a warm place for a very long time.
If traces are corroded, you may be able to repair them in a reasonably straightforward way with solder. If components are visibly damaged/scorched, replace them.
Reassemble and test. If the spill occurred with the device powered on, it's a long shot- very likely, many components were actually fried. If it was off, you have a decent shot.
Good luck!

Fill a bag with rice, put ps4 in it, seal the bag. Hope for the best and do not power it on for 48 hours.
>>54819812
No, this is a customer support question.
Just get a Steam Box
>>54819852

More like:

Was going good until you said to wash with water. Dont do that OP, use Alcohol only.
>>54819925
Nonsense. OP needs to get rid of the residue and other contaminants from the coffee. Swabbing it with some alcohol isn't going to achieve that. An aggressive detergent needs to be applied, agitated, and rinsed- i.e, with soap and water.
It is of course necessary that a) Any contaminants in the water itself are removed, by rinsing with distilled and b) it is thoroughly dried before being powered on.
Isopropanol should be applied afterwards, to localised areas.

>no information on the board

>no information of what is/might be broken
>help me guise pl0x
Considering how you didn't even give anyone any info on the board you probably are a tech illiterate /v/edditor who expects us to do "techy magic shiz" to magically fix your console. This is a meager tech support thread at best. Fuck off.
>>54819977
LMAO
You arent supposed to clean electronics with water you nitwit.
Alcohol is enough, trust me. Whatever let OP do what he wants, if he uses your method the console is dead forever.
>>54819977
Water oxidizes or otherwise alter and destroy metal connections. Your an asshole.

how the fuck do you spill coffee on a playstation?
>>54820687
>>54820659
Cleaning them with water, especially purified water is fine, you 'tard. 1. Pure water isn't conductive. 2. It won't matter if you use conductive tap water if you remove all power first, and let it dry completely before turning it back on. 3. Metal doesn't instantly rust.
Now, fuck off..
If it was on when the spill happened you're like 99.999999999999...9% fucked.
