it depends

DDoS

Search for open ports and use them to exploit vulnerabilities in your other devices or up/download data to/from your machine

Pretty much it really. Obviously more can be done but you'll never meet anyone who does it, everybody just DDoS's or uploads malware. Your IP address is just like your phone number, it's only as powerful as the person who has it.

The worst thing you'll ever probably experience is someone using your IP and lax security to turn your computer into a drone and sell it to somebody to add to their botnet or some asshole DDoS'ing you because you called in a nigger in GTA V.

It's the IP address to my ps3 he has
>>

No one's going to risk jail time for your shitty Japanese cartoons, stories, or images.

Fucking lurk more, or at the very least recognize that the IP is only one half of something greater.
>>
What other anons said, DDoS. But most people have a dynamic IP address so all you have to do is unplug your router and then plug it back in (reset your connection).
>>
>>54798921
noone's going to prosecute the attacker, so he's not going to jail anyway. OP isn't even able to gather evidence of an attack nor I doubt he knows the identity of the guy.

hell, maybe it's just a joke, a lie.

Hey OP, 4chan's got your IP! Be Aware!

The most he's going to do is get his 3 friends to "DDoS" you and make your connection lag for a couple hours until he gets bored.

Turn off your modem for an hour and turn it back on, you'll probably get a new address.
>>
>>54798912
No, there's plenty of other things you can do with an IP address. For example, you can use various forms of malformed data to exploit either overruns or to use ack delays to bring someone's connection to a crawl.
>>
>>54798952
Which is basically a high-level DDoS.

>Implying some nigger playing PS3 is capable of ack exploits

>>54798913

This dude pissed someone off on PSN and they Wiresharked his IP, the most they're going to do is flood him with HTTP requests for an hour.

They're probably just lying though, that's the go-to line for edgy kids on video games is to shout the words IP address.
>>

What part of that is "distributed"?
>>
>>54798867
It's more likely he or she will attempt to dox you if you were dumb enough to use the same username across several services

Nothing since it's just the IP of some random Tor exit node.
>>
>>54798867
He can do nothing, I have only one opened port: ssh.
>>
>>54798912

but i thought routers protected you from DDOS? can't you like disable ping requests?
>>
>>54799314
Yeah but all that does is block one version of a DoS, they can still flood you with HTTP or ack requests.
>>
>>54798876
This is actually the best answer

Someone who has your IP can DDoS your gateway or exploit it.
If exploit exists for your gateway's model/hardware ver, he can effectively DoS it, make a settings dump, phish your credentials, gain shell, root shell. It all depends on exploit quality.
If attacker is well motivated he can guess model of your gateway using network scanner (or by displaying webpanel by access HTTP server) and write his own exploit for your device (0'day).
In case it's motivated attacker, after he gains root access he can upload meterpreter (or patch it) onto your device and execute pivoting attack from inside your network causing MiTM that will affect all your LAN devices. If attacker is this good, you're targeted by hacker. If attacker is able to pull off SSLstrip MiTM by creating public key infrastructure inside your LAN through pivoting, then You may throw out all your electronics to dumpster, because you're targeted by NSA.

Yet, if you're casual user, you're targeted by some scriptkid, whose limit is low ion cannon, so there is no place to worry.
