Can someone shed light on this?

As far as I can tell, there is only one 560 2win card which has 2gb vram (1gb usable because SLI).

Apparently they have 1gb models in stock and ready to ship.
How do they have a card that doesn't exist?

Why does my Samsung headphones sound better than my headphones? Is it because my phone has a better soundcard than my PC or is it because I have to burn my headphones in or is that a meme?

I'm wondering if there is a somewhat elegant solution to this and I don't quite know how to proceed.

I want a more private/Free solution to services that stream your own music. Currently, I'm using Google Play music because it lets you upload your own music and also play music on demand that they have (but I'm willing to forsake this last part).

I get that this will involve running some server software, but I don't have a server and I don't really know where to begin with running one locally.

I would prefer to sign up for hosting and access the server remotely. That way, I could benefit from the backup service that a host would offer.

I don't have an astronomical amount of music (that I care about storing), but I do store my music in FLAC format for archival purposes.

I'd be comfortable with ~60GB starting, but even at that point the hosting services I've looked that seem prohibitively expensive.

Would anyone recommend a solution that has worked for them?

In general, it's rarely worth upgrading prebuilts, since the power supplies are usually just the bare minimum and even if you're willing to replace that, the cases are often tiny and cramped, making for a poor experience when working on them yourself. Do yourself a favor and build a new computer from scratch.

Most laptop power cables are pretty standard, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue unless MSI is run by dicks who thinks it's a good idea to make proprietary power cables.

The answer is, you let windows update to the point the pirating methods dont work anymore. An update recognized the pirate key loader.

Now you have to buy a windows key at a more expensive price or windows locks your shit up. Your files have probably already been tagged, so unless you made backups your files may just be fucked. They get encrypted and you cant use them until they get unencrypted. Its a cryptolocker.

Its why you shouldnt pirate shit when you dont know what you are doing.
>>
>>54776403
The one they offering on their website is the one they probably actualy tested with their mb. It does not mean that newer drivers will not work, it just means that mb manufacturer never bothered to check them and therefore does not gaurantees that they will work.

19.5 will probably run fine on a 19V or 20V adapter. If you want full functionality from your adapter, you will need AT LEAST as high an amperage rating as the stock adapter. If the amperage is higher, that's fine, just not lower.

This is a amateurish question, but please bare with me:

How can I make a command repeat/relaunch itself indefinitely once it finishes? In other words, I need it too keep looping: Run - Finish - Rerun - finish - rerun, etc until I cancel the loop.

Context:
I made a handy bash script (with the help of a kind /g/entooman) to download live-streams with a unique file name. It works great, but often the streams cut out for a few seconds, which causes the downloader to end the download stream. I need it to keep trying to download until the stream comes back online.

Hey guys I have a question. I want to buy a ssd (my first one) and I was planning on going with a cheap one (Adata SP550 109.00 on amazon) but one of the users where complaining about its speed dropping to 80 m/s after the first 260 mb were copied. Now I am coming from a HDD so my question is would this be such a difference from what I currently have (negatively) or it would still be a good upgrade to my old machine. A review said that it wasn't for gaming or media storage. Should I go with an older PNY with MLC but that is $139.00 or with a Samsung 850 Evo (not the pro version) for $150.00. Are the 80 m/s the normal speeds you see on a HDD? If thats the case then I would not "notice" any difference when I am installing or copying a file but I would see a great difference when load the os or programs.

Just get one of the cheap Sandisk ones, they're decent. Not as blazing fast as the Samsung high-end ones or Intel, but you can't really go wrong with them. Just stay away from the cheapo brands like adata and kingston, the price difference isn't worth it anyway.

PNY is shit compared to Samsung. Samsung and Intel are pretty much the two top-tier brands in the consumer market.

PNY doesn't make any of the hardware that goes into their SSDs, the drives are essentially just re-badged from some other mfr and PNY just doesn't have the expertise in-house to deliver the customer experience that the top-tier brands can. Same with Kingston, OCZ, et cetera.

I have had no issues with my 850 EVO. Here I just ran a test for you:
$ sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 22374 MB in 2.00 seconds = 11197.69 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 1488 MB in 3.00 seconds = 495.99 MB/sec

>>
>>54777874
OCZ is shit.
>>
>>54777874
Nothing inherently wrong, but:

1. CPU is a little underwhelming

2. Unless you only plan on having 2-3 games installed at one time, you're probably going to find 120GB of storage to be very restrictive.

3. If you can wait on a GPU, you should probably do so. AMD is going to announce their new cards soon, and Nvidia will be releasing the 1070 soon as well. If nothing else, there will (hopefully) be better deals on the old cards once the new ones arrive.

4. Your case is almost as expensive as your CPU. Nothing really wrong with that, but most people would recommend getting a cheaper case and use the extra cash to get a better CPU/GPU. (I'd be a hypocrite if I recommended doing that myself; I'm looking into a custom case that costs *more* than my CPU)

Just some stuff to think about. What you have there would work just fine, but may not be optimal (particularly the storage).

>>54777874
Shit forgot to mention I have certain parts already such as the storage so I only included a small ssd for the most important stuff and nothing else.

Quite honestly I just wasn't sure if it is worth dishing out a huge amount for a better CPU and how much of a difference it really makes. As for the GPU it is the only thing that I really am not certain about yet. I don't exactly have a budget but if spending $100 more for something that gives a very small performance boost isn't necessary than I'd rather not waste money on that.

Primary focus will just be vidya and besides a good 10-20 tabs being open at all times I don't expect to put the pc under a heavy load.

How do I shop online at what would be essentially "Amazon minus China"? I do plenty of online shopping but cheap Chinese shit (not the good kind) is like 95% of my choices for what I'm trying to shop for currently.
For reference I'm shopping for a soldering station (arms with clamps to hold boards/wires for me), sheet metal for jewelry, a hard mouse pad (plastic/metal/glass itlooks like my only good choise right now is Razer, there has to be something cheaper) and more bits and pieces.

Why do hexa and octo core Intel CPUs shit the bed compared to a hyperthreaded quad core in tasks that don't need more than 4 physical cores? You'd think too many cores would not be a concern. Is it because each core gets less power, so you end up using weaker cores if not all get into play, something to do with communication between a buttload of logical cores, or something else entirely?

I have a PDMI to USB cable that I use for transferring music from my ipod to my stereo unit.

The music bypasses the ipod's internal DAC and instead is transferred to the stereo as a digital bitstream and the stereo DAC is converted to analog instead.

Which line carries that digital music out on the PDMI side and which line would carry it in on the USB side?

Does this bitstream contain any other information or is it just music?

Let's say I want to split this line and run it to another device, I only want the part of the bitstream that is the audio, no metadata information going to the device in question, how to I remove the metadata I don't want and only allow the audio part of the bitstream?

>>
>>54779873
That's the hierarchy on desktop. Celeron is a dual core chip without SMT (as is Pentium, I believe with more cache or something). i3 is dual-core with SMT. i5 is quad-core without SMT, and finally the i7 is quad-core with SMT (then there's the 2011 chips but those are a different platform and lag behind one step in architecture).

All the mainstream chips use the same cores/architecture so the Celeron and i7 will perform similarly in serial performance, but the higher end chips are obviously way better for multithread.

Xeons are $100 cheaper I think.

They're the same chips but obviously the Xeons have faulty GPUs off the manufacturing line so they're sold for cheaper. They also support ECC memory if you're doing some serious business. There are no unlocked Xeons so they won't be able to reach the single-thread performance of a 6700K either.

Also watch out for the 1220 Xeon, it's actually not got SMT which is why it's way cheaper. The 1230 is where SMT starts. You would only buy one if you're desperate for ECC memory and some other extensions on a very strict budget (???).

There are some workarounds with specific motherboard revision and BIOS version combinations for some Skylake chips, but it's a fool's gamble. Intel have been cracking down on the motherboard manufacturers and they've been sneaking microcode updates straight to the CPU via their bumchums Microsoft.

Buying an unlocked chip is worth it for games I'd say, you'll get more longevity out of your CPU in that scenario. But for most other reasons I'd say no, and for pure value, the answer is still no. The best value gaming chip from Intel right now is the i5-6500 which is locked. Unless you have a flexible budget, an i5-6600K isn't worth the premium over an i5-6500. For that money you can get a better GPU or something else.

What do we gain from microcode updates?are they any useful?

>>
>>54780432
Thanks man, buying it straight away.
>>
>>54780447
>What do we gain from microcode updates?are they any useful?

They often fix bugs, but they can be easily used for malicious purposes like disabling non-K overclocking in this case.

>Are the locked and unlocked chips actually same except unlocked multiplier?

Yes, physically identical. The unlocked chips are higher binnings however, so they do command a bit of a premium. The locked chips, if they were unlocked, wouldn't be able to overclock as high as the current unlocked chips for example.

>What do we gain from microcode updates?are they any useful?

There's areas on the chip that can be written to. I don't know the ins and outs but that's what it boils down to. Think of microcode updates like editing the CPU's firmware or something like that.

>>

any idea what might be up?
>>
>>54780481
>>54780470
Fuck I'm dumb, I misread the question.

If you're asking how they bin the chips and disable cores/GPUs and all that stuff, they basically fuse them off with special micro tools after the die is cut from the wafer and tested. If there's a quad-core chip with poor max clockspeed and a faulty GPU, they kill the GPU and bin the chip as a Xeon instead of an i7.

>>54780494
Silicon lottery. When using lithography to produce such complex microscopic devices, not all the chips will come out the same. Some will be able to reach higher clocks or lower voltages or some combination of the two. The more successful chips are "binned" higher (e.g., sold as an i5-6600K instead of an i5-6400) and sold at a premium.
>>
>>54780470
Also, i meant to ask you.

Are microcode updates received by windows update chip specific?

>>

>Are microcode updates received by windows update chip specific?
>Like someone is on win7 with pentium d and someone is on win7 with i7 6xxx and they scan for updates, do their updates differ?

Yes.

>Also are microcode updates os specific?

Well no, but if you're running Linux I don't believe you'll be stung by a silent microcode update. You can download microcode manually from Intel's website if you need to.

On Windows, there's no guarantees. Intel have pushed microcode updates silently through Windows Update before, and you won't know you've had your chip crippled until it's too late (microcode is irreversible).

With that being said, there's nothing to worry about unless you were trying to do non-K overclocking on Skylake. If you weren't, the only microcode updates you would ever come across would be bug fixes.

You don't need a CPU cooler, the stock one will sound fine with a locked Skylake chip.

Unless you need some slots or connectivity/features which that motherboard provides, you can go cheaper. H170 isn't the lowest end Skylake chipset.

Personal preference I guess but that case is fugly, the Corsair 100R would be much nicer.

For the RAM, you might get cheaper with a stick of Kingston ValueRAM (it's still 2133 stuff).

>>54780650
>What do you mean silent microcode update? Is it different as to how a window security update is given?

Like, you won't know it hit you. It won't appear in the Windows Update list and let you hide/block it. Basically if you're trying to avoid a specific microcode update (such as one disabling non-K overclocking on your Skylake chip) you'd have to know Intel were sending it out in advance, and you'd have to go offline or stop using Windows to avoid it.

>Microcode update is irreversible? Wtf

Well, I think Intel could reverse it if they wanted to. But there's no way for you to edit the microcode yourself afaik.

>I thought they are loaded on each reboot by the os?

I don't think microcode has anything to do with the os.

>My asus 945gz mobo even had a setting in bios to disable microcode update

That'd be handy in this day and age.
