They're pretty close to Apple it unlike apple, they have a great variety of products that aren't shit and you can't beat Vegas, although all their other software is shit
They make the best Android smartphones. Everything else is best described as "Okay".
My main complaint about them is how they abandoned the Vita here in the west and how fucking shit the PS4 CPU is.

Sony in a nutshell:
Great hardware
Decent software
Terrible management and pricing
Trinitron TVs were glorious for their day, but the value isn't there today and nobody wants to pay the Sony premium.
If they stopped sending prototypes out to the market and let the engineers finish their work, they probably could break back into the hi-fi market.

When they decided (slightly before 1995) that high quality consumer audio products (cd-players and amps mostly in Sony's case) are not a thing, they've released nothing but shit (PSX is console with great game library - in Japan only though - but its a low quality product, with so horrible design flaws its not even funny).
I made the mistake of buying PS3 in launch (first Sony product i've bought since original PSX), but after removal of 'Install other OS' -option and epilepsy warning nonsense, i'm sure not to make the mistake of buying Sony again.
Haven't bought anything sony in years and actively advocste against them due to the cd malware and removing other os option from ps3. Probably did more shit that I'm not aware of.

Xperia phones are good, as long as i can find good second hand ones on the market, i will keep buying sony. I wouldn't pay the "premium price" for the newest phones though, well that's mainly because i am pretty much a poorfag. i also find their smartphone designs elegant without being too simple or iphone-like.

very good hardware, their high-end range is often some of the best in industry like alpha, any of their products that are actually made in japan are godly (sony vaio z, various headphones)
