>ThinkPad X220 i7with usb cradle, monitor, Rk 61 Keyboard, and external GPU through PCIe
I'm playing Witcher 3 on a 5 year old laptop at medium settings and getting 60 fps, lol for roughly $500. The X220 alone was only $230.
>inb4 le ebin eGPU may may
It works so incredibly well.
Could you do that gpu thing to a t420?
>>54758728
I am interested in this, right now I can't play anything if I'm not at home.
I have T410 with i5 but maybe I could get a newer model with newer processor. Does this trick use the PCMCIA card slot or what? Do they still have that in newer models?
>>54760502
yeah, but it's bottlenecked by both processing power of the processor and the shit speed of the mpcie port. thermals aren't that great on the x220 also so you'll probably get throttled too. the t420 would fare better in that aspect only (and ofc, the larger screen).

> paying china to steal your information
They're called thinkpad because their purchasers dont
>>54760662
by the power of search engines, I present to you one potential adapter:
http://www.hwtools.net/Adapter/PE4L%20V2.1.html
really can't wait for thunderbolt or another DMA adapter to take to the market
>>54758728
what's the best laptop for an eGPU setup?
>>54760937
One with thunderbolt 3.
>>54760937
The Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
>>54760937
Razer blade 13.
6700HQ, USB3.1C thunderbolt.
It was designed for it.
>>54760944
This retarded because of thermal throttling and obvious apple issues.
>>54760974
That do Aditya, that'll do.

wew
>>54761328
is fine on 12" display. Also, external monitor from eGPU
>>54758728
Will it play Doom 4 on decent settings? I'd far rather just make an egpu setup than build a whole desktop. Have a quad core t420
>buying all that stupid bullshit when you can just get a G40 for $50 and call it a day
What's your excuse for not using painfully obsolete hardware and software in 2016?
>>54761853
I use Atom.
What GPU? Curious to see what's not bottlenecked by that shitty mpci slot
>>54762182
It has a bandwidth of 2.5Gbps, which can do PCIe 1 x8 speeds. Depends on the expansion card implementation though.
>>54758728
I just use my x230 because it is better without an eGPU
