Or rather, what didn't go wrong?
They used to have soul.. Zune, Bungie, Vista/7.
Now we have flat everything. Flat UIs and a dead phone division. Only thing succeeding form them is Office and Windows solely because people are forced into using them.

office is legitimately superior to the alternatives, there are things I'd change but nothing else beats it at what it does, excel and onenote in particular.
I too dislike flat design, I support older people and the new style makes it really hard for them to figure out what to click on.

I agree. Office is actually more intuitive and in-turn more productive to use than its alternatives. I was only implying that Windows 10 is forced, not office.
