So anon, what works better:

Radiator on the intake fan, or radiator at the exhaust?
>>
>>54742679
Exhaust is preferable because it pushes the warm air out of the case instead of into the case.

I wont even post it, looks horrible mis matched.

But future plans are:
Get proper tubes in there with 90 degree bends, nothing off. (happening this friday/saturday)

Possibly the Dominator lighting upgrade kit with red led's, but not sure on that.

Probably fixing the wiring coming out of the PSU to be more... not messy. (probably friday, depending on how the tubing goes).

Outside of that, I don't have any ideas.

Why does everyone keep talking about Polaris?
>>
>>54746712
Just wait for polaris 10 then man, the 970 is crap and doesn't support a-sync

also that's a really low end PSU, you should have waited until you could afford an i7 6700 which would have only been about $50 more or so in the end with a more budget board, and a better PSU
>>

That was a 500W EVGA 80+ that was like what 30-40 bucks?

550W XFX(probably a seasonic rebrand) bronze PSU for the basic level

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Or there's this EVGA 650W semi-modular gold rated PSU for like $70 something, it's in the build with the i7 suggestion
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7C8QzM

The 370 at $125 is pretty solid, the 950 is like $20 more with a bit more DX11 performance, but then you're getting right next to 380 territory which is even faster than a 960.
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/visiontek-video-card-900807

Or there's the 250, for $72 here, this model is only DDR3 though, but has 2gbs of VRAM, GDDR5 models would be faster, but only have 1gb of VRAM, but for 70 bucks it'll work
https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r7250aclf4

Also look for used shit, and ask on a real forum like the linus or tek syndicate forums before building a PC man, coulda saved yourself some pain

God damn I'm tired of AMD's housefire products. It doesn't matter if I buy a CPU-cooler that costs more than the actual processor itself because the laws of thermal dynamics will always apply, heating up my room to 30 degrees Celcius even on the coldest winter night.

Should I wait for AMD Zen and hope they have solved this ridiculous heat issue?

I hate Intel with passion because of their disgusting marketing campaigns, but the time has come where I'm seriously contemplating buying an Intel Core i5 instead. That is, if they run cooler and have a cooler chipset than AMD's FX processors and 970 chipsets.

Although there is a third option. Putting my computer in another room and making a hole through the wall for all the incoming cables.

yes/no?

You know your exhaust is pointed inwards right?

Does it work okay with those fans? I've been thinking of doing this to a 6970 to give to my little brother so he can play CODBO3 on low. I gave it to him for christmas but he cant even play it on the 5850 his PC has. Figured the 6970 would be just passable but it will overheat in his hot room with only one stock fan.

30 degrees idle and 61degreex max under stock clocks and volts all round

Pretty impressed the 10 year old fans still worked just put a drop of motor oil on the sleeve bearing and good as new its not as silent as it once was but it rips through most games at 100fps+

Breddy gud for a first time anon. Like actually solid 7/10 breddy gud. What GPU? Hopefully an Asus Strix or MSI card to match your color scheme. Also you bought a real CPU cooler right?

Also why must time pass so slowly guts? It wont be until Volta X80ti that I rebuild. I want to build more computers, the ones I do for coworkers are boring.

R9 390X GAMING 8G I am trying to keep the color scheme the same.

>you bought a real CPU cooler right?
Indeed, it'll be coming with the GPU. I figured I could get away with the OEM heat sink just to load the OS and a few other things. Looking at RR-V8VC-16PR-R1 for my cooler.

Those hyperthreaded P4's make pretty decent cool-running HTPCs if you use MPC-HC & mess around with your settings a while. A decent old GPU is helpful too, of course.

>>
>>54760054
They are for situations where there is no room for the top card to scavenege air. In his case there's enough space for it to gather air.

A backplate on card #2 would help however.

>>54760357
Yeah that would work.
Don't get reference cards unless you relaly know you need one.

Water cooling, cards that are right next to a panel, and multi-SLI are some examples.

Pretty much any of the GTX970s should fit in the Hadron.

I previously had a GTX970 FTW in, now I have a 980 Hydrocopper. Only NVIDIA cards I can think of off the top of my head that won't fit is the Kingpin models with a waterblock and any of the dual GPU cards.
>>
>>54761056
This is nice, did you sleeve the psu yourself, or are they extensions?
>>
>>54761087
Custom sleeve. It's a complete pain in the ass. The GPU cables pigtail, so you need to cut them off and convert them to Y cables instead. There are in fact certain people who you can pay to sleeve and then return to you, but that's a pain.

I also drilled out the HDD bay because for a while I had a 120mm CLC where it was previously. I'm working on getting a front panel with the holes inside it, so I can add another radiator.

Another thing you can do is remove the PSU fan and replace it with two concentric Scythe and Noctua fans -- this is less of a pain in the ass. The stock fan is incredibly loud.

FWIW, you can run pretty much anything inside the system with a pretty hefty OC, outside of a 980Ti. GTX1080 would work.
>>
>>54761162
>>54761056

Love that case, hate the watercooling kit.

I fucked up on it... but more importantly, the bits rip the shit out of your hands when you're trying to tighten. And the pump has issues.

Also, I'm not really an expert with water cooling, and wasn't sure about what GPU blocks would work, and didn't feel like waiting on info to finish.

is the wdidle3.exe thing applicable to all WD Greens? I have a 2TB and sometimes when I click a track in Foobar I can hear it spinning up and there's a delay before the track plays, would that have anything to do with it?
>>
>>54761353
The watercooling kit is pretty subpar.
I found the way to get them on is to test mount the fittings on the blocks, cut to size, then remove the fittings and the tube. You install the compression seals oustide of the case andthen screw down inside, and use a rotary fitting to seal the second side.
>>
>>54759527
What would be the optimal placement? 1 and 3 or 2 and 4? Is there a reason for this? In the /g/ installgentoo guide is says the two slots closest to the CPU.
>>
>>54762234
Read your mobo manual, typically for dual channel its 1 & 3, 2 & 4. But considering the ones on your board are colored red red black black it might actually be 1 & 2, 3 & 4. Been noticing this on more and more boards because most people are dummies and don't realize that.

Just skip to the section where it mentions installing ram, it will tell you what the configuration needed for dual channel operation is.

Dual channel doesn't just mean 2 sticks in use, it means 2 sticks in use for a combined operating speed of (whatever the fuck you bough). So unless you have 1600 mhz ram in dual channel config, it will only run at 800 mhz in the event its not socketed properly.

That's a function of your house/rooms ambient temperature and has really no bearing on the quality of your cooling or airflow.

You can set a custom fan curve to run at 10% until it hits 40C like I do then it never hits above 40C unless I am doing stress testing. Even then I rarely hit over 55c even after an hour or two of gaming.
