Because OP wanted a value option. Considering my i3 2120 gives me 60+ fps in gta v and bf4, I'm pretty sure it, or a newer i3, would offer plenty performance with a lower cost and power consumption.
Or an fx6300, which multithreads better than the i5 2500. Either should be going for cheap on the used market.

And good luck trying to get Newegg to send you a replacement board for a product that's no longer under factory warranty.
