I like TPUs "overall" charts, that average out relative performance across many games.
Nvidia optimizes for synthetic benchmarks.
The chips are hotter then last generation.
Still no hardware async.
Updated video ports.
Updated h.265 10 bit decoder.
Just a tad faster then 980ti clock per clock.
Remember Nvidia spends huge amounts of money on marketing, buying off youtube reviewers with trips to ranches.

Wait until every child on the planet buys the 1080 with their mom's credit card and starts flooding YouTube with videos. There will be large amounts of data available then to get nice average performance values. You'll also be able to see how it performs in the specific games you want to play because there will literally be thousands of videos available. Maybe Polaris will run your game better than Pascal.
So far, it looks like the 1080 doesn't offer enough improvements at 1080 to upgrade from a 980ti, etc. It would probably only really be worth the upgrade for VR performance but as we don't have any VR benchmarks yet, need to wait anyway.
If you don't own a gpu and want one asap, buy the 1080. It is the current best card on the market at a fairly competitive price. If you already have a card and want to upgrade, wait for more reliable reviews to ensure the best bang for your buck.

The 3dmark one really gives it away at 4k its actually weaker clock for clock than the 980ti and the 980ti wasnt even overclocked.
