>Year of the Linux Desktop
That day never came.
Flash will die and GNU/Linux will never came to the desktop.

It died many years ago

Either 2017 is going to be the death of flash and plugins in general. On January 1st 2017, silverlight for example will only be supported for IE 9-11. Firefox 52 is when all plugin support is going to be removed save for flash. Java 9 is going to deprecate the shitty Java plugin. I can't wait.

It's dying out already. Chrome is going click-to-play for flash except for a few whitelisted sites.

A couple sites I use (niche, granted) still use Silverlight so that kind of sucks. It'll also probably affect my grandma and her games on Pogo since those use Java.

>2014: heh surely all those security holes will kill it!
>2015: facebook wants it dead, there's no way it's surviving past this year!!
>2016: maybe chrome blocking it will finally spell the end of flash!!!
So uh... sure is taking a long time to die isn't it?

Hopefully those silverlight sites will switch to something supported like HTML5 or Java. She can still do her Java stuff with web start. I wonder if jagex is going to restart development for the html5 engine. They'll do that or just tell everyone to use web start or the game client

>Uninstall Flash completely ever since that Imgur vulnerability
>Any site that's important doesn't need it anyway
>My employer says they're updating the Kronos system
>We'll check our schedules, request shifts, and update our availabilities all through this new system
>It requires Flash to work

Holy fuck Linus has a huge nose.

Flash will take longer to die, but Java applets and silverlight is definitely dieing next year. If neither Firefox or chrome want to support it and IE is all that's left, it's not going to last.
