My little sister somehow begged my dad into buying her an iPad type device so she can play candy crush all day. She's looking into an iPad mini, but there's no way I'm letting her get away with such a piece of crap. What similar device would you recommend?

iPads frustrate the hell out of me as a programmer and power user, but I still recommend it to people who don't give a shit about tech and just want a smooth ride on the facebook express.

My mom has had a cheap 100$ Acer tablet, and it works just fine with Android, the only difference with an iPad being camera quality, hence me not wanting her to waste money on something she could get for cheap.
It's a perfectly fine tablet. Get over yourself. There's very little chance your sister will give two shits about anything Android has over iOS.
If anything, my advice is to get a refurbished model from Apple because the outer bits, and battery will be brand-new + 1yr warranty
