LINKEKS OUT

Seriously is there any legitimate excuse to run Linux other than to be an edge lord?

Nothing works or runs on it.

There's no compelling reason to switch to something from Windows that has far more limited software choice in everything, especially when you simply want to use your computer for the software (and/or games I suppose), and not simply specifically just to use it for the OS alone and not run any software.

And others who want to do work on their computer, and work as in get stuff done, not work as in their work is maintaining and keeping the OS running, and installing and trying out 101 pajeet distros.

In my opinion. their entire goal is to push independent software creators into the Microsoft Store.

3D performance in virtualbox (windows guest, linux host) is worse than Wine, in my experience

compatibility is higher but it's like filing off half your GPU die

this is pretty much the only reason I still keep a windows partition. Vitrualbox can host it as a guest and I can also boot it directly for SolidWorks and WINE-problematic games

GP specifically cited the annoyance of needing X commands to accomplish something done in TWO CLICKS on Windows.

"Invest a few years learning this and then you won't mind anymore" isn't really a selling point.

It is actually. Don't install adware to start with.

However I spend far more time using a software's interface etc than I do with the OS.

Since you know, I have a computer to run software I want to use things, I don't have a computer to run a specific chosen OS.

You guys are putting the cart before the horse.

>>54607358
Nice straw man.

Web servers running Apache doesn't translate into a good desktop OS for an end user.

A 'critical system' will still be a server, it won't run as a desktop OS for a single user. Eg: such as a render farm, it likely wont have a desktop environment at all running.

Clients (inc Win) will send to the server for rendering etc.

I'm posting from Windows btw.

Your syntax and overall grammar are a hacked together mess.

Every time my own mind is compromised, my environment also begins to behave as though it is equally crippled. I don't believe the machinery of my own perception explains this. Going a bit solipsism about this, it's just such a highly conserved feature of my experience.

Doesn't necessarily need to be outright solipsism, but something is not quite right...

Are you really trying to say people's preferences don't influence their actions, and those behaviors don't then influence the world as a whole?

Don't be so naive. If anything could exist strictly in a vacuum we wouldn't exist in a universe where things must only feed or be fed upon.
