Chrom[e,ium] is not an alternative.
a.) botnettery. You'll remember a while back that Google pushed a binary blob that turned on the microphone and reported what it heard back to Google. They did this in Chromium, not just Chrome.
b.) awful interface that you can't customize at all. It looks like Chrome and that's all you get. There's no equivalent to Classic Theme Restorer.

I have an iPod touch with a 4 inch display. I need to use as much of the screen as possible because of the size. It used to be good, but with every update it's worse, more sites are broken or slows down the whole browser and it's always playing catch up with Chrome, copying everything they can.

Also on Android:

>laggy scrolling
>the slowest page load time out of all browsers I have tried (Opera, Chrome, Naked, Lighting, ...)
>blurry fonts when zooming, you have to wait another few seconds for it to sharpen

At least you can use uBlock, but it slows the whole browser even more and we should be using AdAway anyway.

On desktop (Windows):

>getting rid of XUL => no more customizable UI
>implementing new extension API => extension are going to be as powerful as they are on Chrome
>Crashing, slowing down after long periods of usage, corruption of profiles...
>still not touch friendly

Honestly, they are getting rid of every last good aspect of this browser. It's going to be Chrome-wannabe with worse sync, performance and features.

I'm not using Firefox until they implement Servo in it.

While we're on the topic of browsers, can someone explain why I shouldn't use Safari on my MacBook?

I'm normally a hardcore Chrome user, and have about 33 extensions installed, but damn does it kill my battery life. Same with Firefox.

It does, though without gestures. It's labelled "browser.beta" I believe

this, even tho fire fox crashes alot and dumps errrors (hellow flash my nemisis) like no tomorrow it s still fast as fuck on minimum setup , the only hard part was removing the bloatware.

Chrome and its derivatives leak your IP and DNS info, google has known about this since v1 of chrome/ium and you cannot do anything to change it.
With firefox and one tweak you do not leak any IP or DNS info.
>>
>>54614253
and do you run ff over socks/vpn with encrypted dns, and masking every fingerprint u can mask?
cus if not, it rly doesn't matter

MFW he fell for the VPN meme.
Newsflash anon! VPNs log your IP!

I migrated to chrome. I'm happy now

Chrome was never faster than Firefox after adblock was installed.
It opened faster.
ublock o. doesn't hurt so much.
But for years chromefags were always raving about how it blazed.
Benchmarks didn't include adblock, you retards.
Also botnet.
>>
>>54617461
How is Chrome a botnet? And what is your definition of a botnet?

I always see the term thrown around, but nobody ever gives any specifics.
>>

Chrome has many "features" that primarily serve a data mining tools. They are present even in chromium, but are usually disabled by default. As for the closed source bits, we dunno what all is going on in there, could be nothing, could be almost exclusive datamining/ subtle zombie tools.
Omnibox will by default send google everything you type, even in incognito. It devours memory, even at times where it doesn't make sense, and goes well beyond caching. Could be habitual memory leaks, could be google making use of your hardware and electric bill for whatever off the wall shit they think of. There was also the bit where they had a "mic is always on and listening" update that pissed off TONS of people.
Sadly, if you use netflix/amazon video/ hulu (haha), pepperflash and widevine are a bitch and a half to get working in chromium, especially for ARM/MIPS/insertnonx86here.

I use Cyberfox because I have a nasty habit of opening an absurd amount of tabs to the point where my browser slows to a crawl.
It can handle more tabs and go for longer between resets thanks to being 64bit.

Ever since I discovered that I could middle-click links years ago, my browsing life has never been the same.
>>
>>54581901
K-Meleon is objectively the best browser for Windows.

Pale Moon is excellent for everyone else.
>>

Uh, pretty much all browsers nowadays are 64 bit with the exception of very few browsers.
>>

Some pages don't render properly, or don't work
chase.com is one of them where the login garbage doesn't even appear.

Now it does, however the previous layout, the login box transitions into the webpage, which of course was broken on Palemoon.

You can drag and drop images directly into Photoshop from Firefox.

Seriously, it's a great function. It's low quality bmp, but it doesn't matter for what I need it to do.
>>
>>54617149
Adobe makes top quality software though.

Fine here with FX 6300, 8GB RAM, also HTML5.
No scroll lag on YouTube at all. I did have scroll lag at one point, but it was a bug with animated favicons which was fixed.

best extensions are whatever's good for your use case. Extensions are meant to be something you use regularly, getting extensions just for the sake of having them is useless bloat which will slow down your browser and your PC.
