Dear /g/,

I was thinking about computer heatsinks and though about of this design. It differs from current heat sinks in that more surface area is covered by air. This seems more efficient. Could this work?
>>
no this wouldnt work, you'd just get a dead zone of air between the fins
pointing two fans at eachother isnt going to make it work any better, it will just impede airflow

optimally, radial heatsink with multiple fans directing high velocity airflow around it in a spiral

creating a tornado of sorts on top of your heatsink

alright, but what if you ad push/pull.
>>
There's more to heatsink design than just surface area. You need to take stuff like thermal conductivity into account too.

thats what most two fan coolers already are, and it works pretty well
if you need top tier cooling go liquid, if you are running a bentium boor bothan i suggest liquid nitrogen

Yes, but I think OP is thinking of this given optimal thermal conductivity currently achievable with consumer grade materials.

Ignoring everything else going on here, angling the fins may add more surface area per fin, but there are also fewer fins in the same amount of space.
