Why am I getting terrible wifi speeds on OpenVPN? I get good speeds on regular wifi but when i enable openVPN it goes to shit.

are you using a free or pay service?
Most likely it's the VPN providers server, like >>54560620 says try changing the server location. Or you can try to ping all the servers the VPN provider has, and see which one gives the best RTT time.
But even with the "fastest" server, the server might have a large load, so it can't handle all the traffic.

Are you using TCP mode instead of UDP? (This will cause extra retransmissions in potentially high-packet-loss environments such as wifi.)
Or, is your MTU lower than normal?
