Im assuming you're referring to me, I don't think it is, most people, at least the people I know all that much about politics. Probably a vocal minority

Politics however are of an interest to me and I despise communism, I'm a history fan, hence the name

"Trendy" people (tryhards) are usually young and have been indoctrinated at teritary education centres to support left wing politics, I'm not sure why, they would be the first people to be lined up against a wall when there much loved communist takeover would happen

Post a photo of it, love the aesthetics of Royal oaks

Well, someone is currently facing charges and has been denied bail, he is being charged due to evidence being video footage of a pub putting him in the area, it isn't him in the footage and coincidently my friend actually knows the person who the police are claiming is him. Will my age to go to court and testify it isn't him if the person in the video is unwilling to co operate?

Yes, your friend's defense MUST offer your testimony and your friend's in regard of false ID. If it's necessary, the defense should also threaten with a complain against the police department if they refuse to investigate this new evidence, as they should before pressing charges.

I have my doubts about the 1967 being made in Chistopol, apart from the movement, maybe only it was assembled there. Similarly the 90's Red October was also a modification by some US importer, I believe. There used to be an anon here who had one, I'm not sure if he's still around.

White or black are the most neutral, so they are fit for pretty much everything.

Dark blue (Like the Orient Ray) can also work with a lot of things, but not as versatile as white.

A court can decide if he is innocent, their may or may not be other evidence linking him to the crime, I dont know and I don't want to know. It just happens that a piece of evidence the prosecution is false (according to my friend). My friend wanted to know what he had to do about this legal wise since. You have saved him a trip to a solicitor

Have you seen the world time they're releasing? I like the case a lot, bracelet looks nice. Dial is so-so. Vaguely considered importing one, will probably do so if they make a dial that appeals to me more.

Their new solar chronograph has a very nice look in the dial. Pushers are kinda small though. And bracelet doesn't look like it matches case, but could probably look pretty sweet on distressed leather.

Yeah, it is interesting in that regard but a mechanical watch will never be the most efficient either on the manufacturing process side, as a timekeeping device, or as an economical commodity product for consumers. Just about the only thing it has going for it is that it's not a disposable piece of garbage, which seems like a pretty apt description of the sistem51.
>>
>>54563276
Seiko's lower end watches (Seiko 5, SRP, and SKX series) have close to fully automated production.

They don't get any human contact until they are checked by the retailer in most cases.

Also because of the plastic escapement, because to everyone in this thread, "plastic" means "shit", even though plastic is used for countless critical parts in plane engines and space vehicles.

Few realize it's a huge breakthrough, as while it isn't exactly the best movement ever, clearly no one else can produce such reliable movements that easily and for such a low price, and that it's only a stepping stone on the path to high-quality affordable movements.

Watchfags are curious people.

They usually claim their love of watches rests on their love of science and technology, on all the engineering that goes into a watch, but then they remain completely hermetic to quartz technology, solar-powered movements, and now plastic parts.

Truth is, they just like steel gears, and batteries and plastic aren't "noble" enough for them.

>>
>>54563373
You know, i'm actually surprised on how on how hard it is to find information on it. I recall reading quite about it, coming from the fact that a lot of SKX's have misaligned chapters rings that were basically made and assembled by factory machines but could be clearly spotted by human eyes.

>euphoric reddit gentlemen shit on quartz 'cause "MUH CRAFTSMANSHIP MUH HAIRSPRING SPIRALED OVER A THOUSAND TIMES"
>can't stomach that their beloved weeaboo grail is actually a quartz
Spring Drive is quartz by every academic standard (i.e. NOT the opinion of drooling WIS nerds on internet forums). There is literally nothing wrong with quartz.
>>
>>54565558
A kinetic is a standard quartz movement powered by a battery that's charged by a generator attached to a rotor. Spring drive is powered by a mainspring exactly like a mechanical but the escapement turns a generator that powers a quartz regulator that brakes the unwinding to run the hands.
>>
>>54565628
This. It's a quartz movement with a mainspring barrel instead of a button cell.
>>
Why is a low end automatic Seiko 5 that loses ~1 second every day more practical than a quarts in the same price range that loses nothing until the battery lasts?

And how are you finding the imperial? Is the SB-18 movement pleasant to use? There was also a video made on an imperial and gave concerns about the crown, is it really something to concern about?

I hope to be ordering a third series imperial with blue hands, blue crocodile strap and that sexy Chinese engraved movement (pic related). I gave thought about having the gold engraved balance but thought it be a bit too obscure with such a clean looking movement.

I really like it, and I use it almost every day I'm not at work. I haven't found any problems with the SB-18 movement, and certainly none with the crown - what seems to be the problems mentioned?
As an owner of a vintage Omega watch (as my only other real dress watch), I'm very happy with the rather large crown, which makes it easier to set and wind up.

Yeah the rivetta strap is the one am thinking of, I love that strap man, good taste. Did it come with your imperial or did you purchase it separately?

And I heard somewhere that the crown was apparently alittle loose, just rewatched the video and it wasn't mentioned there, fuck knows where I heard it, maybe I heard it from a different watch review and got it confused with the imperial but who knows.

I can't really say if the croc strap is good or not since I've never handled one but damn it looks nice, as you can tell since am going with matching hands that I have a theme of blue haha.

Have you heard of the Yue Fei by any chance? I heard it's supposed to be a diver but looks like a dress watch from what images I've seen in the site, can't find any other images of it, I may have to ask Ben and see if there is any news on it but I think it be interesting to see a diver from Celadon.

That dude didn't even mechanical movements are not technology, he just accused watchfags of not caring about the technology behind watches.

Mainsprings and stepping motors perform two different functions. One holds power for the watch, the other releases it.

In mechanical watches the mainspring power is released through the escapement wheel and balance, in quartz the battery power is released through the motor.

In spring drives the mainspring power is slowly released using the quartz-regulated brake wheel instead of a traditional escapement. It is still very "mechanical", but to what degree is debatable. It is not, however, merely sending electrical pulses to a motor every second like most quartz.

So it's my birthday soon and i know that my parents will buy me a new watch but im not really into the watch game. Only watch ive owned has been SNK809 and other quartz watches that i really regret. Watches like Armani, MK and Tommy H. But now ive been watching the SKX009 and i really like it. So should i get it? Is there anyway to get it cheaper than 250$ because i live in Sweden. Or is there any other watches i could consider getting. Something nice and big around 45-50 mm. An everyday watch for school and outside the home.

I bought it seperately. My Imperial came with pic related.
>Loose crown
Hmm.. Might be, but not on my issue, haha. It works just fine, and is tight.

>Yue Fei
Yeah. Ben has a group chat/thread on Facebook with some of the "Connoisseurs", and we usually get the newest info a bit before they're released, and we're also offered a chance to make orders for newer watches, before they're offered 'publicly'.
Ben makes a really big deal out of trying to make all his customers feel valued and 'elite', haha. It's a bit silly, but also quite fun. We also got invited on his Yacht for New Years if we were in London and such.

A prototype is not yet out, but I might meet up with him in August for his birthday, and he said he'll bring the Yue Fei prototype then.
Not sure if I'm going yet, though.

Wish it was in rose gold (with the white face) though.

It's fine, but I'd get it in steel instead.
Wouldn't want to risk the coating chopping off.

By the way - don't let the /wt/ autists keep you from buying watches you like.
What you like is most important.

Do you prefer 20mm or 22 mm bracelets?
>>
>>54566664

No they dont. People like me in Europe has a weird way to pay taxes. We pay about 30% and people in the US pay about 10%. That changes the value of any products being sold here. And when i usually buy stuff from outside the EU i need to pay shitty taxes.
>>
>>54566739

Depends on you're watch.

I'm sure i don't want leather for the Monster. I'd like it to be waterproof/resistant, so rubber is an option but i've never been a big fan.

Guess zulu will be fine, the stock bracelet is known to be very good and maybe chink mesh later on.

You don't even get this kind of service of brands like Rolex. Wish there were more businessmen like Ben who'd treat their customers so closely.

And as soon as you get to see the prototype take pictures to show man, am really excited to see what Celadon can do.

>>54566692
And yeah I seen this being posted by him, actually looks like a really nice place with the images he linked too. I'm considering it but I've got plenty on my plate at the moment, but I'd love to meet the man himself sometime in the future.

Well Seiko Turtle is objectively better than SKX, and IIRC, not that much different in price, if the SKX is 250$
Also, I don't think there are people that need 45-50mm watches, forget the mistakes of the past and don't repeat them. If you still need a fuckhueg watch, fliegers are meant to be big, but I assume they're not your style
>>
>>54566803

I dont really like the design of the Seiko turtle.
I need something big because i got a big wrist.

How much would a watchmaker charge for lume painting?

My Orient Marshall's lume is a little lacking. While the hands are somewhat noticeable, the lume applied to the, what I can only call think to call numerals, is pathetic. Maybe even get a little bit put on the 1/4 rotation of the bezel.

Well, since Rolex produces ~1 million watches a year, I think it'd be really hard for them to keep up, haha. But yeah, I only think it's microbrands like Celadon that actually does this for customers. And it's really neat.

>pictures
Will try, if I get the opportunity. And if Ben approves, haha.

>looks like a really nice place
Yeah, it's on a lot of the "top 10 hotels in Hong Kong" lists.
Even with 40% off it's still pretty spicy. I think it's ~$600/night without rate reduction.

Not a fan of the hour hand. Or the sort-of-two-tone bracelet. But otherwise, should be a good little daily diver.
