I've actually never used an nes emulator on my psp. I pretty much only play snes or gba games, but I did a little research and it seems that Nester J is the best/most popular nes emulator out there.

The best thing to use it for is emulation and PSP only games. It can also do PSX pretty well apparently but I've never tried that before. I still have my PSP 1002 and it still works great to this day but I just don't have a need for it.
