Why do a lot of people hate on kde?
Use it, it's understandable why people hate it.
i like it
>Why do a lot of people hate on X.
is this also a meme?
>KDE3 - simplistic, powerful, and an all around great DE
>KDE4 - a bloated and disorganized disaster
>KDE5 - maximum eye candy, much more usable than 4 or gnome3, slightly buggy
People who hate on KDE are probably relatively new to linux and either don't remember 3.0 or haven't tried 5 yet. That or it doesn't run as well on their celeron.

Because I hate squares.

idk, OP. maybe some people are having unpleasant side-effects of using KDE?

Because they run a poorfag hardware

How is it more usable than GNOME 3? Does it have extensions? Can I style the shell with CSS?
>>54536863
Yes
>>54536612
This wouldn't be a problem if you used NixOS.
>>54536871
Got any resources for CSS styling?
>>54536211
it looks cool but takes up too many resources. I have plenty, plenty of RAM to run it no problems, but still don't like how resource heavy it is.
Pretty sure this is why a lot of /g/ doesn't like it. The /g/eneral mentality is less resource usage = better. Just a preference thing.

Look up Qt style sheets

My big beef with KDE is that KDE programs have horrid UI layout, flow, and whitespace allocation. I'm not saying to go with football fields of emptiness, but anarchic arrangement of controls typical of KDE stuff is unbelievably bad. Whitespace is allocated in all the wrong places, windows often have too many buttons crammed into them, and little or no effort is put into aligning controls to flow nicely, have consistent margins, etc.
Really the only DE that has apps with sanely-designed UIs is XFCE. GNOME and KDE go way too far on their respective ends of the spectrum.

I've tried, Google only shows styling with CSS from the source of the applications, not independent stylesheet files like an equivalent to gnome-shell.css. I really hope there is one because I like KDE5.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NixOS#Features
When you perform a nixos-rebuild it generates certain config files for you based on its own. This ensures that you can just regenerate things like your X config.
I mean it can't help with wiping your drives, but some of your problems are gone at least.

I was never bothered to try. There should be a way, look up in the KDE forums

4 is a bit shit. But I love kde 5. Use it on my gentoo desktop.
