It works well enough for reading text, but if you're gonna browse 4chan for a while it's far better to use a monitor.
It's nice for browsing in bed though, playing Hearthstone in bed, watching porn and video-watching in general.
So use it more for content consumption than regular browser reading (unless you're in bed)

Virtual desktop is basically unusable. Even if you can tolerate the low resolution, the off centre blur is a nightmare. I'd just use the one build into steamvr if you want to play games on a screen in vr.

Remember the only people who have vr right now are super emotionally invested in it so assume everything is much worse than people are saying.
