Hello again /g/

Reminder of what I posted about two days ago:
>>54485619
>>54485631
>>54485814
>>54486368

Well, I received the adapters, and the result is quite disappointing: it doesn’t seem to work. It’s really a pity, because this keyboard really has a nice feeling, but it must be too old and doesn’t speak a recent enough language to be correctly converted by the active ps/2 to usb adapter. I’ll have to send them back to Amazon.
Well, I guess it’ll stay with my old computer I got it with, and use it only when I’ll times to times boot it again (but as it cannot run anything newer than Win3.1, well…)

dude you need only 1 thing

a Soarer converter
google it

you have to DIY it. go to /diy/ and learn more electronics and programming ,then buy a Arduino Pro Micro from the chinese for 5$, (like me) and upload Soarer's converter to it, and connect it all up and enjoy.

I bought my Pro Micro (atmel 32u4 usb-enabled microcontroller) today. Waiting 3 weeks to get it, in the meanwhile refurbishing muh Wang keyboard.
>>
>>54514961

You bought a shitty cable that doesn't give enough power to the keyboard. The AT adapter is fine, but you need something like this for USB

www.amazon.com/dp/B000BSJFJS/

A Soarer's converter will do the same thing, but you only need to use that if it's an XT-only keyboard.

Hey guys. I'm looking for a relative small, as in TKL or smaller, keyboard to use as a portable keyboard for my PC. I'd like to get something either with a silver aluminum casing, or something that can be swapped to a silver aluminum casing, to match my PC. I'd also like Cherry MX Greens as the switch. LED isn't necessary, but I'd prefer either red or white.

I've been thinking of the Leopold FC660M with Greens and getting a silver case for it.

Also, here's my shit on my desktop.

they sort of suck
they're tactile in that you get some resistance on a leaf spring then it drops right to the bottom
so its a bit like topre, except topre is smoother

i much prefer the cherry type tactiles, because you can ride that bump
>>
>>54516237
you can ride my bump

it's very tactile
>>
>>54516237
Interesting, sounds like you're in the minority on them being bad.
I loved mine when I got them them stock. Then I made them clicky, added some dry lube to the stems, and added more resistance / tactility to them by bending the leafs a little.
They feel better than blue alps now from what I could tell. (sold my KB-101a because of it)
>>
Just received my Magicforce mechanical keyboard with imitation Black MX keys.

Wow. This is fucking amazing. I'm tying at like 1.5x the normal speed. And it feels amazing. Wow, no wonder this is a cult. Props to you guys. I think I can type forever with this thing. Let me just keep tying, ok, you can stop reading now. This is just a fucking test to see how awesome this mechanical meme tier keyboartd is. I hate that this didn't come with a meta key and a numpad, but I probably should have been more prudent while shopping. All I wanted to get was a """starter""" mechanical keyboard and this was only $40 w/ shipping so that was attractive to me. Whoa, this is actually addictive. No longer will I be plagued with horrible membrane keyboards. I will finally be typing the way man was intended to type, mechanically. Fuck you membrane niggers for memeing me into not buying a mechanical keyboard for all these years. I could have typed so much more and experienced these feels for so much longer. In fact I think there's a Jewish membrane keyboard conspiracy afoot here; that's why all laptops come default with membrane keys not mechanical keys.
>>
Is there any difference between old browns and new browns? I got some switch testers in and the browns on them definitely feel less tactile than the ones on my old Das.

Das Model S (MX Brown)

I've been debating between a Realforce 87U and a WASD V2 for about a month now. All I've had to go on are the Cooler Master and WASD switch testers.
>>
>>54527114
can you post circuit diagram? i understand its in a matrix but thats about it
>>
>>54526231
Clears. Quieter than most other switches since you're not inclined to bottom out.

Not really. I just followed this:

there was a german fag here a few weeks ago having an autistic fit about ANSI
screaming that americans have to be different and special snowflake, while ignoring that there's a different ISO layout for every yuropoor country.

he actually cited his internet test IQ after claiming to be more intelligent than any american

it was fucking hilarious

ISO has some nice looks to it, but it can't beat the symmetry of ANSI.

like i said in the battlestation thread it looked way better with the labels and the blue caps
at least you sould have gotten all whites to give a nice contrast to the industrial case
>>
>>54530539
I tried all white, looks boring.
>>
How to Topres compare to Cherry switches in terms of durability? Is there any noticable degrading over time?

What's a good first mechanical keyboard you would suggest?
>>

Model M or Model F, fuck the rest.
>>
>>54530611
and that doesn't look boring?
it is the most boring posibility
you just removed the legends and the blue touch that makes that keyboard special
but ey, in the end is a matter of preference
i would appreciate if you posted all whites tho

my first purchase was a model m
i have now over 15 keyboards with diferent switches
only the model f is better than the model m

Ok but where can i get a normie mech keyboard? I just want something better than my CM Storm keyboard. Layout is fine, i could lose the 10keys if i needed to. Backlit would be good for visibility but again i don't need it. Anything in my realm that's less than 100 bucks? (I have the red one by the way)
>>

>>54530688

Thirded, the standard Model Ms and Model F ATs are still good layouts for dome switchers.

XTs are cheaper, but more expensive to convert and dat layout.

>>
>>54530627
The durability is pretty good and is at least similar to Cherry switches. The big points of wear are the rubber and the spring which will slowly get softer over time (we're talking many years here) and might eventually break (even longer).
Unlike a traditional rubber dome keyboard Topre switches do not rely on physical contact to register the press of a key. Instead it measures the change in resistance as the spring compresses. This greatly reduces the wear from moving parts.
In contrast, Cherry switches use a folded metal leaf as the contact point which the slider keeps bending and rubbing against.
>>
>>54531155
Think I should switch back?
>>
>>54531159

rubberholics just have to spend 250 dollars on domes because there's a ""CONIC SPRING"" in them...

Hey guys, I'm the guy last thread who had trouble finding a full size keyboard with MX Clear's. Well, some kindhearted anon suggested the WASD V2, saying that they came in clears, and oh my holy fucking shit, this feels amazing. I got it rush delivered this morning and I have never felt anything better. Thank you so much anon, I'll treasure this thing forever.

Didn't know the difference until just now, I'm guessing I got the ABS as the keycaps are smooth. They're fine for right now, but I wonder if I can get PBT caps from WASD for this one, it's the Code 104 MX Clear with white backlight

>>
>>54531366

Huge variety of options, search PBT keycaps on Amazon and you can get an idea on price.

Signature Plastics sets are much more expensive.
>>
>>54531369
WASD sells backlight PBT keycaps. Some of the V2s come stock with PBT. The CODEs have ABS.

nigga if you like the blanks more use the blanks like wtf man dont let us random fags on 4chan dictate your life
>>
>>54531442

>>
Okay, so one more thing. This CODE keyboard has a detachable micro USB cable for it's wire, it comes with a USB to PS/2 adapter, should I be using that instead of the USB hub built into my monitor or is USB the best way to go? I've got plenty of open ports, I just want the setup that's going to give the best response time and number of key presses at the same time.
>>
>>54531567
The USB standard has a limit of 6 keys + unlimited modifiers (like ctrl and alt) at the same time. This is more than you'll probably ever use unless you play an advanced flight simulator.
Still, the PS/2 adapter would remove this limit if you feel like you need it.
>>
>>54531391
