What is the point of all the major browser makers turning their products into Google Chrome clones? Why don't they just shut down and put a redirect to Google Chrome on their website instead if they love it so much? It seems like a huge waste of time, money and effort to maintain dozens of different browsers that at this point are basically just reskins of Chrome. Why bother?

This. We need real Chrome competitors more, but at least Chrome isn't the best looking WebKit based choice, because that would just be sad.
