Having a high IQ comes with it's pros and cons. For instance, i do perfectly fine while only half paying attention to what i'm doing in Arch and other logic based subjects, but when it comes to religion i can't even begin to understand how anyone would believe a damned thing

If you want a good pentesting distro with all the tools you will probably ever need, use Kali 2.0.
It's great to start out on and learn with. A skidds dream, if you will. Please do try to learn what goes on under the hood though.
I.E, How the programs work, how to fix things, how to write your own exploits, how to program your own tools.
As for your question, Yes I have both tested and worked with it, and it's a meme. Go with kali.
