I'm thinking about getting a raspberry pi, any tips? Where should I buy one?
I'm planning on using it for robotics.

Get an Arduino instead.
Or better yet, don't get either. They'll end up in your shelf gathering dust.

Arduino is just a controller, is it not? I'd rather a fully (kinda) functional computer.
If I end up not using it for robotics, or stop, I'll just turn it into a media center.
Get a B+ off Amazon or eBay for like 20$ if you can, they're probably cheaper and the best all around for the price. They're fun things to have around to do torrent boxes and website hosting off of. Plus you can learn alot of Linux command line by running it headless. You should dcertainly get one if youre interested, and an Arduino so you're familiar with both technologies.

Get the rpi3. I have it and use it for projects all the time

Since it'll most likely be useless, save some money and order an orange pi pc or orange pi one
