I don't think using a computer should require I read a manual, things should be intuitively mapped out so I never have to touch a CLI if I don't want to.

I don't advocate abolishment of CLI, just that I should be able to use my computer without having to resort to it. If I have to copy paste a command every time I want to do something or read the man page and then remember the command with all its arguments and switches then something is wrong.

Not one distro has managed this feat

README

Basic Installation:
1.Before attempting to compile this virus make sure you have the correct version of glibc installed, and that your firewall rules are set to ‘allow everything’.
2.Put the attachment into the appropriate directory eg. /usr/src.
3.Type ‘tar xvzf evilmalware.tar.gz’ to extract the source files for this virus.
4.‘cd’ to the directory containing the virus' source code and type ‘./configure’ to configure the virus for your system. If you're using ‘csh’ on an old version of System V, you might need to type ‘sh ./configure’ instead to prevent ‘csh’ from trying to execute ‘configure’ itself.
5.Type ‘make’ to compile the package. You may need to be logged in as root to do this.
6.Optionally, type ‘make check_payable’ to run any self-tests that come with the virus, and send a large donation to an unnumbered Swiss bank account.
7.Type ‘make install’ to install the virus and any spyware, trojans pornography, penis enlargement adverts and DDoS attacks that come with it.
8.You may now configure your preferred malware behaviour in /etc/evilmalware.conf.

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/LInux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

It sounds like people like these have never actually spent 5 minutes googling what they want, because it'd pop up if they did.

Also, plenty of things the terminal is the most intuitive for.
Mostly programming tools.
And just look at the hell that is wget GUI.
Terminal is good for text things, GUI good for non text things.

Plus, I've been using linux for years, there hasn't been a single time when I've been forced to use a terminal, except when I do something really stupid and break something, but that always has happened to me from a terminal, so if you truly avoid terminals, you're good.

>>54427990
Tab auto complete.

Also
man -k password

Can pipe to grep for more fun.
Just because you're clueless at a terminal and have most of your experience with a GUI, doesn't mean we do.

I could be wrong on this, but I thought everything in info is also in man.
It's not like either is hard to use.

>>
>>54427990
Oh, and forgot to mention, man -k also serves a good way of finding out the program you want to use also.
Easier than trying to track down a mess of GUI programs.
That feel when you know you need some GUI program you installed a year ago, completely forget it's name/icon, and have to hunt through menus, launching old programs until you find the one that does what you want.
This is easier IMO, unless you/re just scared of the terminal.

I'd јust like tο interјect fοr a mοment. What yοu're referring tο as Linux, is in fact, GΝU/Linux, οr as Ι've recently taken tο calling it, GΝU plus Linux. Τhere really is a Linux, and these peοple are using it, but it is јust a part οf the system they use. I'm terribly sorry for interjecting another moment, but what I just told you is GNU/Linux is, in fact, just Linux, or as I've just now taken to calling it, Just.Linux. Linux apparently does happen to be a whole operating system unto itself and comprises a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Most computer users who run the entire Linux system every day already realize it. Through a peculiar turn of events, I was misled into calling the system "GNU/Linux", and until now, I was unaware that it is basically the Linux system, developed by the Linux project.

There really isn't a GNU/Linux, and I really wasn't using it; it is an extraneous misrepresentation of the system that's being used. Linux is the operating system: the entire system made useful by its included corelibs, shell utilities, and other vital system components. The kernel is already an integral part of the Linux operating system, never confined useless by itself; it functions coherently within the context of the complete Linux operating system. Linux is never used in combination with GNU accessories: the whole system is basically Linux without any GNU added, or Just.Linux. All the so-called "GNU/Linux" distributions are really distributions of Linux.
