Cuda is api and basically how many compute cores it has. Think of each Cuda core as a seprate CPU.
Thing is these new cards are clocked 2x higher than the old cards so having the same core count is not really a determiner of speed

My 2500k needs more voltage to be stable at 4.5GHz than it did in 2011. It also won't do 4.6GHz at reasonable voltages/temps anymore.
